They told me to field destroy it and I’ll get a refund in a couple of days.
Don't do that. If they can't refund you for their product being poorly manufactured without either you keeping it or them taking it back, tell them to pound sand. I've delt with that response from someone before and I told them basically "if you can't refund or RMA the product then forget about it". No good reason you should have to destroy something you paid for. I hate it when shady companies do that. The company I dealt with wanted me to cut wires and send pics. Hell naw. Refund me or don't.

They did.

Just drill the new hole and get the refund.

How did you stop the drill from slipping? I tried to drill new holes but the drill bit just slid all over the place. I ended up using double sided tape instead. It's been probably 8 months and no issues yet
Use a tap first. Or slow rpm with pressure to create a tap guide hole from the point on the drill bit.

Late addition to this thread. I had same problems mentioned previously, Deflector holes not lining up, crappy anchors and Deflector rubbing on hood and/or fender. I could not find the B196 anchor locally but instead used a Plastic Trim Panel Clip / Fastener Phillips Drive per photo. I managed to muscle the larger clip in just before resorting to drilling another hole. For the rubbing, I also ground a bit of the shield edge but I also placed one of the clear silicone adhesive pads on it to hold it away from the hood. In retrospect, I may have avoided grinding and gotten away with just the spacer. I am definite DIY and hopefully this will help someone!

This thread started in August 2022 and they still haven't fixed the issues?? I was waiting, figuring they'd sort out the problems rather quickly, but I guess that's not going to happen. Pity. I was going to buy one, but I guess I'll have to find something else. I'm not going through all that mounting bs. 😬

I just put one on my 2023 XLT.
I had to go to Lowes to get some replacement fasteners as three of the originals went lost forever in the 2.0 L engine compartment.
I can be REALLY clumsy sometimes with small slippery parts.
Other than that everything fit fine..
The instructions call for the hood bumper/adjustments to be turned out 1 1/2 turns ?
That didn't work for me as the hood wouldn't close.
I screwed the adjusters back in 1 full turn and everything worked fine.
I really like the look of this product and the protection it offers over the tape on versions.

I just purchased the same from Realtruck. Should received It in a couple days. I called in the order and was told I could return it within 30 days if I have trouble installing. I do not have to pay for return shipping etc. After all the negative reviews on fitment, I was hesitant to purchase. But if I can return it with no hassle, I'll give it a shot.

I really like the looks but I'm concerned about compromising the hood in any way. I read that the hood has to be adjusted otherwise it won't close? I dont like messing with body panels that will alter or uneven body gaps. I'm happy it worked for you. Thanks for sharing.

I put one on my 2023 XL last week, and had to drill out one hole for it to line up right . But as for it rubbing the finder , it did on the right side but all I had to do was be a little more careful lining it up from side to side . I didn't mess with the bumpers and all is good for now . Although I hate the way they package it in the cheap plastic and let it rattle around in the flimsy box .

Use small piece of tape on surface and very small drill for pilot hole . after switch to larger drill bit . fortunately I just had to ream out two center holes about 1/8 inch to make mine fit . I just used Drexel but edge of drill bit would work . small round file could also be used to ream / enlarge holes towards windshield .

Adjusting the trucks hood bumpers requires no tools. Mark the round rubber tops of the bumpers with an erasable marker or tape ? so you will know how far you screw them in or out. Easy.

Mine fit fine without having to drill any additional holes. Maybe I was lucky ?

every time I try to follow this bug deflector thread, I seem to get popped out. Someone had said that the Ford one by LUND “the Aeroskin Smoked Hood Protector” was gone. That’s what I have. It was 1-28-22, that I got mine. I am very happy with it.
might have been part #VNZ6Z-16C900-A
It’s smooth and shinny. This is the best picture I’ve got, it lays flat on the hood. No bumpers or screws.

For what it's worth..., I just installed one of these that I ordered from AutoZone, which was drop-shipped from AVS in early June, 2024. They seem to have resolved all the previous problems with hole alignment and interference on the fenders. Mine fit well. I don't think the suplied fasteners are great and may look for something that I feel a bit better about. With a 20% online coupon I got it for $50.39 plus taxes. Free shipping!

Ordered from RealTruck; installed today and it fit perfect. Had to adjust the 2 bumpers a little different than instructed but everything is tight. Looks good.

I ordered mine via Amazon earlier this week and it arrived today. I watched online videos to install and read this thread to give me a better idea. Everything was moving along smoothly, but the last fastener wouldn't cooperate. Then, it fell somewhere into the engine bay. Luckily, I had similar fasteners that I had ordered extra when I installed my fender flares and mudguards months ago that I was able to use. I knew those extra fasteners would come in handy some day.
