Gonna just try and keep it simple and add a Kicker 46HS10 and tap into the rear speakers from the door jams. Maybe just replace the door speakers at the same time but definitely the Kicker for the lacking bass.
Definitely need to remove the door speakers if you want quality mids n highs the stock ones are junk once you add any base it drowns them out

Your looking at a max of about .9ft³ per storage side on a non hybrid if you remove the plastic Depending on fiberglass or wood. So to make a removable box that sits into the storage area your probably in the mid .7ft³-.8ft³ range of what your box could be. Great for a sealed 8 or 10 if it's a shallow mount box. Only 9inch of depth
That's not bad, to be honest I was thinking about not making it removable haha. Maybe that's a bad idea but the install would probably be easier utilizing the existing cubby.

Nah, I'm picky with headphones, not with car audio. But the lack of bass in car audio is a bit disgusting at times.

Honestly I could probably make a really shallow 8" work if I really had to, I just prefer to at least get a 10" sub.

I have yet to purchase/pre-order a maverick but it's very much something I am considering, as I do like my current vehicle 2019 Ford Edge ST but I think I want a small truck. Audio wise, if I were to get a maverick I would treat it like my last WR holding truck. Remove the back seats and build from the floor up to the window line.

Here is a picture of what was in my old truck 2011 Silverado with 2 Sundown ZV3 15s ran off a Sundown SCV-6000D and three batteries. I competed in Trunk/Truck 2 class in IASCA took the class at world finals in 2016 confirming my WR and set a new WR at SBN in 2017.

Not sure I could comfortably fit 2 15s in a Maverick but 2 12s would prolly be an easy fit in this style configuration. In case anyone is wondering, the 6k amp is under the box, I built a floor, then raised the enclosure up to create space for the amp underneath it.

And if anyone has any other questions on this type of setup or wants to see the other build breakdown photos I have them and more than happy to share them.

If I didn't have a kid to tow around I'd be doing the same. Still have a few years b4 she can ride in the front seat... but can tell ya with 2 sealed 10s this truck rocks.

Back in the day I had an Acura Legend 2 door, took out the back seat and had 2 18" rockfords inverted firing into a sealed box and 2 10" MA Audio subs in the trunk... Hit super hard. That car was stolen and stripped and dumped in a lake, haven't really built a system since then.

However this truck makes me want to build something again, nothing crazy (got 2 kids so I can't remove the back seat again) and I don't want to go crazy. I've already set up my ipad mini as my "head unit" and I like the direction that is going. I was poking around and this might be a good option as a shallow sub. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_575T1S102/Rockford-Fosgate-T1S2-10.html?tp=68872

I'm pretty excited to get back in to playing with car audio, it's been far too long.

I see you like the boom. I too like the boom!

I am really curious for ideas on what to do with the maverick. I want to do something under the seat. My children are 3 and 5, so no turning the back seat into a speaker box area. I was thinking of removing the plastic storage area and putting just some simple subs with a simple amp. I'm a JL fan when it bass. Kicker is my close second. Alpine is doable if I don't have any other options.

I see there are a few looking to upgrade the sound which is awesome.

I'm still waiting on my mav and hopefully will receive it as soon as fuel tank is replaced, but I have a question that hopefully someone here can answer. The space behind the rear seat to the back wall. I have yet to find the actual width/depth of that space. I have seen a few prefab boxes that have a bottom depth of 8" and I hope it will fit. Just from the few photos I have seen it seems to be around 6-8", but I need actual confirmation.

Here is example of space I am referring to. Thanks to anyone that can help with measurements!

So I'm NOT looking to get really loud, but I have been super amazed at the performance of these

Around $250 and really fills out the bass for regular listening. Won't wake up the neighbors or rattle the rearview mirror, it's insane how much sound comes out of a tiny tiny power wire!!!

Sorry I can't help with the measurements as I don't have mine either, however having a power rear window cuts in a bit as you can see in that picture.

I'm hoping to build a sealed enclosure around a shallow mount 8 or maybe 10 with the amp next to it. I like the idea of filling wasted space. Also having the battery nearby is a cool bonus.

Ya I think height I will be good and for most part, but the width and depth I am unsure it will be close. I have seen the motor set up for the mav rear window and the bo amp with free air sub. I know I can move the amp and totally remove the free air sub.

I have a buddy that is running this with a shallow mount sub that sounds really good for what it is. I am hoping to replicate something similar, but I also have plans printed out to make a custom box if that qpower enclosure is to big.
