My wife has an A3 so I already have the best of both worlds by having a Maverick for truck things and an A3 for sporty things. But every time I drive the Audi I get a slight tinge of regret for not getting one for myself. If an Audi pickup was anywhere near the A3 in drivability I’d be all over one. Lots of ifs there though, the main one being “if it got built”.

If this Q9-based PU ever sees production, it would be at a much much higher price point than a Mav, a Ranger or even mid-level F-150s. Did a quick search on what the base MSRP for Q9 SUV is... $90K, and I doubt a Q9 PU would any cheaper. At that price point it would compete with ultra high-end F-150s, Rivians, etc.

Now maybe VW could create a more entry-level PU, but VWs have been rising quickly in price over the last decade, so I really doubt they'd produce a Maverick base/XL model competitor for under $25~30K. Heck, VW has stopped selling new base-model Golfs and only sell GTIs/Rs in the US now.

The 2022 Maverick's trim-level price points are hard for other manufacturers to match. I think the 2023 Mavs will see an increase in price, but how much?

But if you got big $$$ laying around in your checking account, by all means go for a German PU.

My original plan was to go from my A5 to the Maverick, I’m loosing faith that will ever happen for 2022. Sept order still unscheduled. How’s the drive / power compare to the A3? I ordered the F-150 hybrid powerboost this month, honestly think I might see that first. I enjoy what quickness the a5 has so that’s what has me wanting the powerboost besides the extra space / size.
Seems like most have been satisfied with the 2.0 ecoboost for power though, curious on your opinion since you drive both?
It’s a significant price jump from the lariat Mav I have on order to the powerboost, been going back and forth a lot on what I want to do.

The Mav has plenty of power and doesn’t struggle to maintain speed in the city or on the highway. But it’s nothing at all like the A3. The Mav has power, the A3 is quick. That’s the best way I can explain it. I definitely like driving the A3 better but it would be shit for towing my boat.

Chicken tax. It'd have to be put together here. I wonder if they're capable, if so, where?

An Audi RS3 pickup would be awesome.
