When I first placed my reservation it was only 2 minutes after Ford officially announced the Maverick. Later that day and the next I started calling Ford dealers to get some info. My contacts seemed uninterested as if I was bothering them. Others, did not have any information or even knew anything about the Maverick. I wonder if they just aren't interested in the Maverick due to a potentially smaller profit than the F150s and Broncos. There seems to be a lot of possible communication problems amidst the 'lack of supply' issues they are dealing with in many other models. Hopefully they can get most of this resolved soon.

Perhaps there are too few vehicles available to meet the needs of early users, so that Ford and dealers have no incentive to promote it.

At the dealer I visited today, there are only five vehicles for sale. At the same time, there are six salespeople in the showroom.

I went to my dealer today to order an XLT after making an appointment with a salesman. I get there and he tells me I did not reserve a vehicle. I told him I did and that is why he contacted me to come in for the appointment. We then reserved the vehicle on the Ford website and I asked if he was going to order it. He said ordering was not open yet and showed me on his computer that it did not open. He said it would be open for ordering soon and will let me know. He was a young guy but did seem to know some things about the Maverick and seemed happy that it was being offered by Ford.

The dealer (multiple makes) had very little inventory. The guy told me they had a bunch a couple of months ago but they had sold and not been replaced yet.

One of the dealer sales persons that I spoke to said he didn’t know anything about it because he was waiting for the reveal. I had to tell him it was a week and a half ago 😜

I have been in contact with my local dealer via e-mail and telephone for two weeks, still can’t get an order initiated. Last conversation the dealer rep let me know that they would require a 15-20% non-refundable deposit so they didn’t get stuck with a vehicle they didn’t order. When I said I thought that was a bit steep he stated he would meet with the sales manager and get back to me.....4 days later and “crickets”.

Trying to do the right thing and support local business but appears I’m headed to an out of town dealer.

Dang that is just dumb on their part. I mean come on, stuck with a vehicle in this market? I drove by 2 dealers last weekend the larger one had maybe a dozen new vehicles on the lot, and the other I honestly wasn't sure any of them were new. What a joke, they clearly just don't want your business - not enough padding since these aren't f150s I guess?

What is so confusing is that some of you are getting orders in while some like me have dealers saying it’s not open yet… I don’t even know, I even linked this forum to my contact as he didn’t fully believe me.

According to a salesperson I talked to yesterday, Ford has set up different reservation rules for Lightning, Bronco, Mach E and Maverick so I think the customer and the salespeople are all confused. When I submitted a Maverick reservation yesterday, one person at the dealership said the order banks were not open yet but another person at the same dealership was able to put my order in and I got an email confirmation from Ford right after the order was submitted so even within a specific dealership there is confusion.

In my neck of the woods all Ford dealers do is sell F150s. This is Texas after all, and out in the country to boot! Mavericks will probably be pretty good sellers in places like Dallas and its suburbs but not out here in the country. I found a dealer that did not have a clue but I hounded them to get educated on this truck until they finally gave me a price on an order form. It was only a little more than a thousand off MSRP but they had relatively low fees and no deposit, at least not shown on the order form the sales manager sent me.

The whole thing boils down to salespeople's perception of this vehicle. First, they know that they are not going to make much profit because of the price, second, the process for ordering is a bit confusing and is different than the other cars and trucks they sell and finally, if they believe it will be a hot enough item in their area to get these things out on the road and before the public. Some dealers, like Granger and others at this forum are betting big on this truck, others, don't want to be bothered with it. In my area, the perception of this new truck as to the bottom line means everything.

The second salesperson I spoke to said they wouldn't be placing orders until July (for the dealer lot) or August (for customer factory orders). I think the angle was to consider something they have in stock. This is more difficult than I expected.... or than it should be.

Dealers see it as a threat to fat and lazy F150 margins.
