Take the tray out of the phone charge area and maybe also take in protective case off your phone to get your phone closer to the charging coil. Also consider getting a 8-12" charge corg and plug your phone in (phone will also run cooler plugged in).Another possibility is that your phone -is- charging but it's charge rate is so low it's breaking even with the power needed to run Androidauto / carplay. I know if I have my phone on the wireless pad it doesn't actually charge upward but instead breaks even with the power drain of maps etc.
Plus since the ports are 5v 3a, some phones (like iphones) can't accept 3amps at 5v and instead can only handle 2.4amps, so you end up with 12w charging instead of 15w. If you want to actually charge your phone fast in a mav you have to buy a proper 12v charger still.
