Personally, I believe that once you start getting into a lariat with packages added on, you're too close to a ranger in price so you might as well look into those too. For me, the sweet spot is an optioned XLT.
I spec’d out a comparable Ranger Lariat with the options on my 2.0 AWD/FX4 and it’s +$10K more than the Maverick. Not even close.

I was a huge fan of the old Rangers. I loved the size and practicality. I bought a 2019 Ranger when they came out and it is a good truck, but it is bigger than I really wantEd so I jumped at this new Maverick because of the size and hopefully the ride quality improvements due To being a unibody.

Where in SC? Other advantages besides doc fee? MSRP or Invoice or...?
I'm in Atlanta but work in Greenville all the time and my parents live in HHI.
Thanks!

I admit I was looking at Santa Cruz’s also but between the insider bs, lack of pricing for months, the higher price, and the addendum dealers are adding , I will never buy a Hyundai.... as you did I priced others smaller trucks and the one that came close was the SR Toyota crew cab with a 4cyl 2WD at $28600 but you can’t find one , plus it’s the base model.....stripped. No the Maverick is the best deal this decade.

I love the idea of the Maverick, but I'm starting to think it might be too small, especially for the price of a Lariat 2.0 FX4.
I mean for a lariat fx4 perhaps so. Dollar for dollar pound for pound. It depends on what you need or want or can live with. I chose 2.0 as well as you but just went XLT with the tow package and awd. and a few tiny bits and bob options. So i was able to keep my price under 29k even with destination. After tax itll be like 31.5 maybe 32 depends on what interest etc ill get. But still cheaper than equivalent equipped Ranger with 4x4, crew cab, short bed xlt. thats how i look at it atleast. And depends on need/want. I want an f150 with the v8 and supercab. But i dont need it. I need more what the maverick and ranger offer but the maverick to me is a far better bargain for power, size etc. which from what im seeing is only a bit bigger, height, width than the OG ranger of 90s to 2011. So long story short no im not reconsidering it, but i get why you may at the lariat with fx4

$28k OTD price, incl taxes, fees, everything.

You may be right about Lariat. I downgraded from Lariat -> XLT after convincing my better half that we really didn't need leather seats & dual-climate.

For $30k, you can find a lightly used '19 Ranger. But it will be RWD and almost always an XL. RWD is non-starter for snow belt folks like me. 4WD will cost about $4k more to get. When 4WD, MPG will drop from the EB AWD's 29 highway to the Ranger's 24, so it will cost more to drive.

If it was me spending the money I'd jump to a ranger XLT at that point. That's just me, though. Amenities and creature comfort aren't as important to me.

Nope. There isn’t another vehicle that I want that offers what the hybrid Maverick offers.
I would say the same except replace hybrid with Ecoboost for me simply because I want AWD and 4K tow. There literally is no direct competition for the Maverick right now other than the Santa Cruz and it may be a great truck but it's hideous. Worse than the first gen Ridgeline. (Sorry RL owners...never could stomach the cab meets bed area). Some compare the Mav to the current RL but in reality, they are not direct competitors either.

I spec’d out a comparable Ranger Lariat with the options on my 2.0 AWD/FX4 and it’s +$10K more than the Maverick. Not even close.
Had this conversation with someone on the FB page yesterday. Even comparing lower trims and options, there is still an appreciable price gap between these trucks. A 2wd crew cab Ranger XLT is $4500 more than a Mav XLT AWD with 4K. Not to mention, I think many people fail to realize just how different these trucks really are. Which brings me to my next quote, lol...

YES! I like my 21 Ranger. But I think I will love my Maverick and these are just two of the reasons why I think it will be better than the Ranger for me.

I am forced to reconsider because I ordered the 2.0 Ecoboost w/4K tow package without AWD. Interestingly enough when searching for a small travel trailer I was very limited because of the weight restrictions. So, I have to get a bigger truck. Since I ordered in late July my build was going to be late anyway. I will be changing to a 2.5 Hybrid. Which will push it out further no doubt. BUT, I am willing to wait.

Thank you for all the opinions and feedback. I'm planning to wait till it comes in. As many have said, it's the best overall value out there at the moment. I just hope it has enough interior space.

No way I'm reconsidering. If anything, I'm getting even more excited about this truck. The specs I ordered are exactly what I've been waiting for in a small pickup, pricing included. It'll be worth the wait even if it runs into next year. The last Ford I owned was in HS, around 1977; I owned a 1968 Galaxy 500, two door hardtop with a 390. I'll also be pulling a 16ft aluminum fishing boat with this too, around 2100 lbs. Alto Blue, XLT, 2.0L, AWD, FX4, & Tow.

As a back up order to my Bronco I started b&p on a rambler tremor. Loaded up it was almost 50k OTD. Because of that I started checking out the Maverick. A loaded Lariat (no sunroof), comes out to 34k +. Call it 36k OTD. Which is quite a big jump

Show me a Ranger getting 40 mpg, loaded up like my Cactus Gray Lux Lariat (no sunroof) and under 35K and then I might give it some thought. (Nope) Otherwise I'm sticking with the Maverick.
The only change I would make is add some options that aren't available. Such as: power passenger seat, cooled ventilated seats, exterior lighting package.

I am sticking with XLT Lux hybrid. Only things giving me second thoughts are part bit items. No push button start or proximity key and cut down screen which are all probably going to be on next year or mid cycle refresh.

The more expensive truck lacks some of the features from my Focus from almost 8 years ago... And my other thoughts are dubious build quality could be of concern...

Though this is a cheapest truck you can get. I consider a Tacoma but they are hard to find and overpriced. I also don't want to lease to afford a fully loaded Tacoma.

I will only reconsider granted Ford doesn't get their crap together in time. If Honda will get new civic si or vw will have 8th gen gti before the Mav gets here i might reconsider my order.
