HCH2, Hybrid XLT on order
Today, my wife realized that "Base model" meant a hybrid, which reminded her of the Prius I used to have that she hated driving. Then she asked about the fancy electronics (she was thinking about the Durango that we had that she didn't like to drive, especially when she saw the same shifter knob).

I had called Ford Customer Service to make sure they had my right E-Mail, since it wasn't on the Preview Order form. The nice lady updated it and my phone number. She also answered my questions:
1. The first E-Mail I should expect from Ford would be the VIN when they schedule production.
2. It will be 6-8 after that before I see the vehicle.
3. I asked about the "rumor" (postings here) that there would be no hybrids built until December? She thought for several seconds and said "It could be true, because we aren't making any now."

When my wife heard that it would be December, she suggested cancelling my order. So, yes, I will be talking to the dealer tomorrow.
Except there are some hybrids getting pulled, so /shrug.

If preordering is not for you cancel early and find the best fit for you.

Went computer shopping for a small truck last night............Yikes I'm calming down and sticking with the Maverick...

Prices on everything BUT the Maverick are insane.

The maverick Lariat lux package gives you features that aren't available on the ranger such as, but not limited to:
Wireless charger
Heated steering wheel
Adaptive cruise control with lane centering

Ignoring those points though, optioned out similar to my lariat maverick build the ranger comes out $8000 more expensive and gets worse mpg.
I came very close to buying a ranger but then the maverick was announced and I found it suited me much better.

Not hearing good things about the wireless charger. I dont think it supports many watts and I wonder if it even supports todays common bigger phones. Personally I thought it was awesome first but after some posts about i wouldn't count on it being useful as a charger at all. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. That said you could always just use it as a place to sit phone and charge it via wire the old fashioned way.

IMO the way cars handle technology is pretty bad! Their infotainment systems for example look so dated. I know the ranger for example had a place to put phone while charging except it's only big enough for very tiny phones! Such dumb stuff.

Personally, I believe that once you start getting into a lariat with packages added on, you're too close to a ranger in price so you might as well look into those too. For me, the sweet spot is an optioned XLT.
I see where you're coming from, for sure.

I'm going with the Lariat 1st edition primarily for the features -- active cruise control, lane assist, lane centering, et cetera. The reason I'm fine with the price is because I won't buy another vehicle that is not hybrid or full electric. We save quite a bit with our other hybrid that gets 55-60 mpg. There's really not another hybrid truck on the market that gets anywhere close to this price, and the size of this truck is really perfect for someone who doesn't need it for work.

Admittedly, the first edition just has some added nice, but probably unnecessary, touches that would cost much more if I wanted to add them individually after the fact. If I'm already in the the Lariat, I figured I might as well drop the additional $1500 for some cool add-ons.

All that stated, if you're not set on a hybrid and do not want some of the added driver features, then the Lariat doesn't make much sense to me either -- either move up to the Ranger (lose the hybrid) or go with the XLT (keep the hybrid, but opt for less driver tech).

Not really, I ordered a fully loaded Maverick Lariat 2.0 awd with every package except First edition for $34,426.
Your getting a base XLT model for that price in a Ranger 4x4 with nothing else, no other packages or options added.

I ended up changing my order from a Hybrid Lariat Lux to the First Edition because when I compared the DORA's between the two builds the First Edition came out to $191 more but I'm getting a sunroof, tonneau cover, vinyl graphics and painted roof. Not bad for $191.

I will wait for Hybrid because it can be towed 4 wheels on ground 2.0 can not I need to tow behind my Motorhome
Glad that works out for you. I have no motorhome and don't plan to buy one. Never been anything I've ever been interested in having. The places I general travel to it wouldn't be feasible anyway. :)

I am on the leading edge of a ton of fun and utility when Maverick hits the bricks. So I’m all in and expect to be for quite a spell.... at my age its worth the wait and actually have something to look forward to......😊😅

Hang in there folks it’s better than waiting for that Yugo y’all were dreaming about. 🤡

The Maverick is just my place holder until the Bronco gets here. Since that could be over a year from now, couldn’t wait. I’m just hoping that the used car market is as hot when the bronco is ready. Because I will be trading the Maverick in.

I'm considering (likely) cancelling my order with the dealership here in Atlanta and taking advantage of one of the offers here on the forum from another city.

I placed my order June 28th. July 1st I emailed the dealer wanting to make a few changes and he said he'd get on it.

Hadn't heard anything from Ford, so I emailed the dealer this week to see what he was hearing and to ask about pricing (doc fee, etc.). I told him about the other offers available.

He came back at MSRP + 899 doc fee and OH BY THE WAY they had never updated my order on July 1, would I just prefer to add those items with aftermarket parts?

I'm a bit steamed. I wasn't in a particular hurry to get the truck, but I ordered early so I wouldn't be in the back of the line either. Best I can tell, MSRP + $899 doc fee is about $2500 more than I'd pay at Invoice - 4% + $394 doc.
$900 DOC fee?? wow!

I'm considering changing from the hybrid to the Ecoboost, since the Ecoboost mpg isn't as bad as I thought it would be

I keep thinking about switching back to XL because of FOMO on such a bargain truck exclusivity! Lol! Sure it's easy to pile on the add ons in which I did on the XLT. But there's something about a basic 20k hybrid truck that calls on me. It's such a breath of fresh and feels retro ish to not have all the cutting edge technology in a vehicle.

I have no strong preference on the features of the truck. Only reason I upgraded to XLT is because I can. We live in a society where we always wanting more than what we need.

Will my order be pulled quicker if I switch back to XL hybrid with no add ons?

Only mr owl knows, but if you base model, there are no options to be constrained

I've gotten to the point in my life (old fart) that having all that "cutting edge technology" makes up for the fact my eyesight and reflexes aren't what they use to be. Wouldn't buy a car today with it.
