Has anyone flat towed a Maverick yet? I’m hoping to get mine by the 2nd of June and I bought it to tow behind my RV.
Don
Did a test run today. Work really great. Great thing that I don't have to disconnect my 12v battery like I had to do towing my Ford Flex for the last 10 years.

Bluox type bar and patriot 2 brake and within 90 minutes the brake loses power and the truck battery is dead. How are you running power to your brake? We had the charge line installed too.
12 volt from the seven pin on the MH to 6 pin on the truck. Had a problem once and it was a blown fuse in the MH.

We checked our charge line and it is coming through to the pin but not going out into the truck

My thoughts exactly. I don’t have to disconnecte the battery any more. I haven’t had any problems with the switch over. Love the Maverick so much more room than the Nissan.

Line needs to run to the positive side of the battery. Should have an inline fuse and a one way diode so the MH doesn’t draw the truck battery down when not running.

See if you can borrow someone else's 7 to 6 pin cable. That happened to me in the past where one light on the towed wasn't blinking and it was the molded connector on the MH side. Corrected by buying a Roadmaster cable instead of the BlueOx I had as it was recommended to be better. You never know...

There are a lot of new, fancy things going on when using my 2020 Ford Transit RV to tow that I struggled through. There is NO power to the 7-pin/6-pin cable unless the vehicle is ON AND the cable is actually connected to the tow vehicle. Took me a while to figure that out, as I was just using a voltmeter. It has to do with the RV determining if there is a "trailer" or not. I thought my RV manufacturer had disconnected the charge-wire in the 7-pin until I learned that it would not show voltage unless activated by fully connecting the cord. The charge-wire did not need to be connected to allow power to be read there, so the activation was likely caused by the taillight circuit being complete (but not on), Life used to be simpler...

I've never towed a vehicle behind an RV.

I am curious.

Do those fancy hitches allow the front wheels of the Maverick to steer when making a sharp right turn for example?

The towed car's front wheels move. Hitches don't do anything but pull. That is why vehicles that have steering wheel locks (like my old 2003 S-10) require the key to be in the ignition and turned a notch to unlock and let the front wheels follow the path dictated by pulling. I think most vehicles (all Ford Hybrids, my 2015 Jeep for sure) do not have steering wheel locks any more.

It is also why bad things can happen in the towed vehicle's steering geometry if you try to do much distance in reverse. Even a few inches is difficult, and if you get the not-so-bright idea to hold the steering wheel and back up, broken wrists are possible.

Hubby already checked fuses and none were blown. We head off again tomorrow and we aren't looking forward to a dead vehicle again. We will try not using the pateiot brake system I guess so hopefully that helps the battery but we can't not do that regularly. Somethings gotta be fixed with this maverick so we can tow it behind the rv!

Don’t think it’s the truck. Something not right with your charge line either in the MH or on the truck side. When I originally hooked up the charge line on the MH at the 7 pin I didn’t properly install it and had to reinstall and no problem after that. I’ve towed my Maverick over 3500 miles with only the one blown fuse issue.

What make us your MH? Ours is a Newmar Bay Star and Newmar won’t ship with the charging line hooked up at the fuse box or the 7 pin connector. Had to do that myself. I understand there are other manufacturers that also don’t enable the charge line for insurance reasons?

Our MH is a Georgetown. We towed our Ford Edge prior to this. Same motorhome same set up just different vehicle. Towed the edge 20,000 miles.

I had to install a separate charging wire to keep Maverick charged. I’m trying to find the parts list to give you the info on that. I have a roadmaster tow bar so I went with the same on new truck. I think if you call E-trailer and tell them you’re problem they will tell you what to do.
