Most times when I get in the truck, start it up and then connect my phone for Android Auto, nothing happens. I have to disconnect the phone and re-connect it to get it to work (sometimes twice). Anyone else with this problem? Any solutions? I've searched dozens of other posts, but could find nothing.

Try a better quality cable.

I’ve had a similar issue for the last year (iPhone) and I’ve even had the car usb jack replaced under warranty as it stopped working entirely. It’s still hot and miss now and I’ve used many cables.

Another option is one of the wireless Android Auto dongles you can buy. I'm thinking of grabbing one this go round because the extra stuff you can do with them (like watch streaming) sounds nice.

Possible fixes I have found. Sometimes going into your phone and force stopping Android Auto, then relaunching it, helps.

A dongle is the way to go. I installed the MA01, connects flawlessly every time I get in the truck.

The Internet is loaded with millions of posts regarding this issue. No matter which cable you use or if you go the wireless option, you will have this issue with Android Auto intermittently. I have found that the wireless route for me works the best but still, every week or two, it will disconnect for no apparent reason.

Just Android Auto things lol.

I can't say it's normal for it to happen all the time, but once in a blue moon it will happen.

Yes, two things helped to solve this issue for me:

1. Get a usb-c to usb-c male to male cable. The truck's smaller port gives me fewer issues in general.

2. Unlock and wake up your phone screen right before you connect it.

I had dust and dirt in my phone's USB-C port. Cleaned that and android auto now works every time.

I've noticed it plenty of times. I think it has more to do with the timing than anything else. It is not cable quality.

If I plug in before the head unit fires up, I usually have to unplug/re-plug. If I wait for the head unit to come up, then plug in, it almost always starts Android Auto. The problem is, the damn head unit sometimes comes up in 10 seconds, other times it takes a minute.

It is a glitchy system for sure. I've had mine for almost 4 months now and I keep hoping for a software update to cut down on the glitches, but there hasn't been any yet. I check about once a week.

I bought the MA01 to try it out on my current vehicle...damn thing was setting off my alarm, haha. Promptly returned it. I might buy one when the Maverick comes, but I'll probably go with the AAWireless one. Idk yet.
