I hate that the cd player has gone the way of the AOL FLOPPY DISK! But I guess I will have to accept it. I started out with an Mp3 player hooked up to the Maverick via a USB cord, quickly discovered that the cord is a pain in the neck. Copied a dozen or so of my favorite CDs onto a USB drive. I leave it plugged in and itā€˜s OK. I add a few more CDs every now and then. Eventually Iā€™ll have enough.

By the way, an AOL floppy disk makes a good shim if you have a table that doesnā€™t sit flat.

It takes 10 minutes to rip a cd to your PC.

Rip to FLAC format - good quality/compatibility/file size.

each CD will be aprox 300mb - so about 3 CD's per GB.

with a 128gb thumb drive that would hold about 350+ CD's

you can do 6 in an hour if you're fast.

yes - its a time sync to do - but once its done its done.

not sure what ripping software the kids use these days.

rip them to your PC hard drive first.

calculate the size of your collection once its done. use that to figure out your thumb drive size. then buy 2 thumb drives. copy your collection over once to each thumb drive.

put one drive in the truck - give the other drive to a friend or family member offsite (for redundancy)

Sorry I don't have the ability or time to do all of that.

Kids dont use ripping software lol but thanks for your thoroughness. This process does remind me a lot of the early 2000s though. Were payinng tens of thousands of dollars for a truck. Apple music costs 5 dollars/month lol time is money. But each to their own

Hahaha Makes me want to find an old Ford trunk 10disc changer and wire it up. That was so epic in my 91 SHO. Also had tape player. :)
I had one of those that I installed in my 96 Mercury Mystique...I'd forgotten about that.
