You
I'm 63 and am on my 6th vehicle. What do you do with them?
Your 63 and have only bought 6 vehicles in your life? You keep them longer than I do! One of my vehicles 53 years old,and i have 2 other dodges that are 16 years old besides our maverick. I've been very lucky with my dodges but I've been buying new ( and paying cash) since 1983. when they get older and get alot of miles I sell before any major issues. As a teen i drove some junkers that had issues but sold them as is and bought something else instead of putting any money into them.

68 here. My ICE 24 Maverick is the first truck and I couldn’t be happier.

Perfect for a weekend trip to Menards.

28 and just bought my 17th vehicle, hopefully I'll get to your 30-40 mark. Maverick has been my favorite so far.

So a question - not wanting to get into a debate on the financial merits of getting an extended warranty or not, as that's a different discussion. But I'm wondering - if a person has an extended warranty (from Ford, not a 3rd party), are they more likely to take their vehicle in for warranty service when trouble starts, compared to someone who doesn't have a warranty, and lets the issue manifest itself until potentially more damage or costs are accrued because the issue wasn't dealt with early on, because they didn't want to spend the out-of-pocket cost for the full repair?

I have never purchased an extended warranty for any of my multiple previous new vehicle purchases, and with one exception (a Chrysler T&C that kept having front suspension and power steering issues), not getting a warranty was a good financial decision. But, thinking that if my Maverick shows itself to be a worthy road trip car, that getting an extended warranty would be good, if for no other reason that a peace of mind that for the next 10 years, the most I'd have to pay for any (non wear/tear) is my deductible. It's a lot easier to fit $100 in the budget every once in a while, compared to what could be an expensive repair bill that is unbudgeted. It's the unknown that's hard to plan for. Kind of like house insurance - you hope to never have to use it, but when you do, you're glad you're only on the hook for the deductible.
I also, like you, never purchased an extended warranty on a vehicle because I am an licenced aircraft mechanic and have knowledge on all systems electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic etc. But due to the cost of parts to repair anything electronic that has to be replaced, and what the hourly rate will be in the furture, I bought an 10 year warranty (which is transferable to the next owner) from Granger Ford to give me peace of mind in the furture.
