I've decided to rattlecan rustproof my Maverick.

Are there any areas that deserve more attention than others?

This Maverick is my 4th new vehicle purchase in my life. The first two were taken off the road due to frame rust related failures and my wife totaled #3 with a deer.

I'm thinking this vehicle could last me till the grave if it doesn't suffer a catastrophic rust related failure on me.

Are there any signs of rust on the older rust-belt Mavericks out there?

I would only use Woolwax or Fluid Film types of undercoating. Mine was done 2 times at Line-x it is a Fluid Film type they apply. Make sure to get some OEM touch up paint and keep the stone chips coated. They tend to rust around the front windshield that I have seen. Do not use the hard rubber rattle can 💩 will make it rust bad!

Yeah. I picked up some fluid film cans and some applicator gimmicks from Amazon.

I also like Fluid Film and Woolwax. The pinch welds and the trailer hitch receiver (front and back) are 2 areas that I make sure remain covered for winter salt. I put paint protection film (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NPMCB0W?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1) on the roof edge above the windshield, on the door edges and on the back edge of the hood that can get hit if someone lifts a wiper.
