I was just wondering if anyone has seen any aftermarket rotors available for the Mav yet. The reason I ask is primarily because I've ordered a hybrid, and in the part of the country where I'm at since the majority of braking is done by the E-CVT transmission rotors tend to rust and pit very badly over time. I just serviced a C-Max yesterday and the rotors looked like a relic recovered from the Titanic. In particular what I am looking for would be plated rotors( I believe nickel) , I had a set on my Mustang which I looked at more than I drove, and they stayed like new for years.

Are they not the same as the Escape and Bronco rotors? The factory rotors seem to be of better quality and don't rust up like older Fords did. Anyways, the better aftermarket plated rotors for the escape have been readily available for many years now.

Maybe, after checking the rear view mirror, every time you drive your Maverick you could make a couple of rapid stops using the brakes instead of regen. If you don’t let the rust get thick, it shouldn’t take much to scrub it off.

I’ve noticed on my ICE car, after it sits a few days I’ll hear the rust grinding the brakes when I back out of my driveway. I never hear it after the second or third stop.

I have a similar problem on my Mach-e becasue I use 1 pedal drive. Even if I switch over to two pedal drive the regen is so aggressive that it usually isn't enough to knock the surface rust off the rotors.

Once a month I head out to a long stretch of back roads then get up to speed and put the vehicle in neutral and do some braking. I do it a couple of times then call it good. Sounds excessive but it is the best way I've found so far and it is the recommended way to keep the rotors from getting worse.

I subscribe to Car & Driver and they had this little blurb about it a couple of issues back.

No, I don't think they will fit, the lug stud size on the Maverick is the same as an F-150, the lug stud size for the Maverick and Bronco are smaller. I am pretty sure that although wheels themselves are interchangeable( conical lug nuts allow this and same bolt pattern/spacing ), the rotors would have different size holes for the bolt pattern/studs since they are larger.

RockAuto shows "Durago" brand rotors with corrosion protection.
The coating is on the hat and edge of the rotor and not the braking surface. Obviously because any coating would quickly wear off.

With Coated Hat and Edge for Rust Resistance

DuraGo Titanium Series (DTS) rotors deliver a winning combination of quality, performance, styling and defense against corrosion. Each rotor features a corrosion resistant coating that provides lasting protection to the hat and edge of the rotor. As an added benefit, the titanium gray finish compliments vehicles with open wheel designs. DTS rotors are manufactured in an ISO certified factory to meet OE requirements of fit, form and function.

The state of VT is insane with their asinine regulations concerning rust on the brake rotors. They push hard as hell as state policy for EV & hybrids and are forcing many people who drive such vehicles to actually have to have a brake job every inspection cycle (one year) due to rust on the rotors being more than 1/4" long. Not a typo, that is 1/4".

Not going political here, just suffice to say there is one segment of society here that wants their cake and eat it too and one thing I have learned in my almost 75 years is life don't work that way. :D
