The second time in one year. Looking closely I can see many small chips. Do we have bad windshields? Did Ford make them soft, thin and light weight to gain some imaginary fuel economy advantage? I know my insurace company wont be happy. Never had this happen before to any car or truck.
The day I was driving my brand new 2024 Lariat home from the dealer, with less than 20 miles on the clock a semi (driving in the fast lane) kicked up a small rock and hit my windshield. Scared the crap out of me! At first I thought I came out unscathed but a few days later I was in my truck early morning and the sun was just right to show that I had a small star chip!

I am of the opinion that the glass is thin and soft. My 2001 with 200,000 on it has never had a problem.

I'm of the opinion of just a "wrong place, wrong time" for a cracked windshield. In my 50 years of driving, two cracked windshields. In my '99 Ford Econoline conversion van the first week I had it, and last week in my 2020 Escape, both rocks from oncoming traffic. Stuff happens.

My Sound Screen (Lariat) windshield cracked at 934 miles, right at eye level on the drivers side. That sucked.
It took Safelite 3 tries to get the correct Ford logo Sound Screen glass. They kept ordering a cheap-ass aftermarket windshield and I kept insisting on what it came from the factory with. A $500 deductible later and I’m finally enjoying my new truck again.

I have no idea if the glass is thinner or more brittle that other windshields but I’m sure hoping not. With all the rock trucks coming out of multiple quarries and construction sites in my area, every road has gravel along the sides that dropped out of a truck. It makes me want to Mad Max my truck with rabbit hutch wire and deflector shields but I don’t think an up-armored Maverick would look too cool and as some Poindexter on this forum is about to tell me, that may void my warranty. 😁

I'm with you on this topic !!!! I'm on my second windshield, it's cracked but bullet seal is holding, so far . Many small little chips in this one !!! I've also never had this happen so much, ever !!! It's my only complaint...... horrible, freaking glass 🤬🤬

Finally joined the club. Just completed a 2250 mile trip, funny thing is the windshield did not crack on the trip, but overnight in my garage.

Is it the ‘acoustic laminate windshield’ that is more inclined to crack or is it the regular one?

Hello, how do you tell? I'm not sure? Have a 2023 XLT

I know the Lariat has the ‘upgraded’ one but not sure if XLT or XL has it. Mine says it on the window sticker.
