I've had my Maverick for 10 days now and the Android Auto is so glitchy that its literally safer to just use my phone while I drive. Multiple times I've had google maps simply end the navigation in the middle of a drive out of nowhere, and a few times even navigating to an entire different place despite tapping on the correct destination multiple times. Forcing me to either try to figure it out while I'm driving or just unplugging my phone and using it instead.

While listening to Spotify with navigation going it goes black for a couple seconds and the audio stops before the screen comes back on and resumes multiple times within a few minutes.

In short, its literally unusable and causes massive distractions and/or accidental detours.

Does anybody else experience issues like this? If so do you think its a software issue that can be patched by Ford remotely, or just a problem with my phone?

There is a known issue with the head units, though most complaints are of it freezing up, volume/tuning not working, and slow to respond. Add your complaints to the list I guess. Ford has acknowledged the problem(s), but has not given any get-well date yet as far as I know. You might try a complete reset of the head unit (Since I don't have mine yet, I can't talk you through the steps, but on my Toyota Sienna, it was under Menu - Settings - Delete Personal Data. This removed all pre-sets, BT connections, AA authorizations, and as a bonus, forced a software update to the latest version.)

I’ve had the same issues from time to time with Apple CarPlay. Not just with my mav though. My wife’s ‘18 Jeep renegade had been that way from the get go. We thought it might be the cord, swapped so many, not it, also thought it was her phone until it happened to me with my phone. I don’t even use it, that wasn’t a selling point for me on this truck.

Yes, but what does bluetooth have to do with android auto? it works the same without having the phone connected to the truck with bluetooth at all.

Thanks (y)

Same here, I've used android auto in 2 other cars and they all do the same thing regardless of cord im using. This is why I think it may be my phone.

Replacing the cord it a constant recommendation on a Hyundai forum I'm on  most of the time using a quality cord resolves the problem (y)

This is the cord I'm currently using, it's time to throw it away, they DO wear out AND get dirty.

Dont know about AA, but until recent software updates on the iphone, it would drop all the time. Just made a 400 mile drive (in a Ridgeline) and it never messed up once. Just need the MAV now to know for sure.

I agree, AA could be greatly improved. I used maps, then had trouble as it went away. Too distracting to fart with it to get maps back. Looking for a phone holder in good view for driving. Radio works much better w/o AA in my opinion.

Today I drove from Oklahoma City to Branson, Mo in my Mav using AA with absolutely no problems. However, I was listening to SiriusXM on the trip. I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not.

i've had android auto for 10 yrs and the only time i've had trouble was when i forgot to sync it because i switched cars or phones. make sure your your car is listed in phone's bluetooth settings. carplay doesn't matter.

Sorry about your troubles - mine has been bulletproof navigating while using pandora and Spotify for the first 3400 miles - was thinking about trying Spotify, @abjbrdt is there a known issue with AA and spotify?
