Android Auto issues

Anyone having Android Auto consistently crash after about 2hrs of use? If you take many trips then it gets to be annoying to have to restart the infotainment when you're using it to navigate/listen to music.

Hasn't happened to me yet, and I've driven longer than a couple hours at a stretch. My XL doesn't have Sync, though, so that could be a variable.

Are you holding down the power + track forward buttons to reboot the truck's infotainment system?

Yeah over Thanksgiving the family and I drove over 20hrs total and on the long drives it was almost 2hrs on the door that the stereo would kick off Android Auto and we would have to do the 'power + track forward' restart.

In those cases I would also reboot the phone too.

I've driven 3 long road trips since May and no AA issues on any of the trips. Now, this unit does have many random glitches, but it doesn't seemed to be centered around using AA. I have it lock up randomly just backing out of the driveway with the radio on. I have issues with USB file playback all the time (but it mostly works). I have random pops that occur on almost every trip of more than 30 minutes. I could go on, but the software/hardware is quite buggy and I really don't see it improving with updates.

Have you upgraded the sync software? I also have a 23 Lariat hybrid and started having serious android auto and general stereo issues. Then, I saw the notification in the app that a new software update was available. Followed the instructions found both in this forum and from Ford, and have had zero issues since then. Have you tried replacing the USB cable connected to the phone?

I had issues with a bad cable that caused symptoms like yours.

I bought two USB-C cables. One for use and one spare.

They have worked flawlessly and allow me to use the standard USB port for music I have loaded onto it.

I just took a trip to Central Florida from Raleigh, NC with no Android Auto issues. I drove five hours without stopping, and with no issues. I would agree with trying another USB cable. I have mine connected via a hugh-speed USB-C cable.

I've tried a few cables but until I get a chance to have it checked out I could try a few more

You should make sure AA is fully updated. If you have slight Android knowledge, I recommend installing the latest version which you can download from here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/android-auto/android-auto-11-0-6350-release/
