Am Done With Ford

I feel badly for my local Ford dealer as they have been great to work with but Ford at the corporate level is not helping the dealer nor me. Have waited for the Maverick order but the only news I have gotten is the dreaded 45 day emails so finally gave up hope and cancelled the order. The dealer will leave the order in as it's a vehicle they can easily sell if it ever comes. And now I read that Ford is removing the AM radios in most 2024 vehicles so that is a deal breaker for me in buying a Ford. Have had Fords since buying my first new car from the local Ford dealer, a 1965 Mustang but no AM radio then no more Fords. I will be buying a new pickup of some kind but don't know what.
EDIT: My local dealership guys have been so good I hate to abandon them and maybe won't. Today I see that the 2024 Ranger is one of the Ford vehicles that will retain the AM radio and the salesman said it might not be until late fall that the Rangers arrive at the dealership but I surely would give that a shot. One has to understand that in remote areas like where I live the FM stations do not reach out far enough to be useful and cell phone coverage is sporadic so having an AM radio is a desireable feature. I get the local news, weather, road information, high school games play by play on the AM. I still will have the option of getting the Maverick if it arrives before the Ranger.

I too listen to AM radio - actually normally I listen to nothing driving, but when I do, it is AM radio.

I'm not brand loyal - currently drive a Honda, Mercury, and a Volkswagen. Have to admit the Grand Marquis is by far my favorite of the three.

I grew up in a Ford family, but American corporations are not really America First sort of organizations - they consider themselves globalists so I treat their products the same as ones from Japan, Korea, etc. based corporations.

The Magliozzi brothers from Car Talk radio (a very funny car-related show that was on NPR) used to talk about the idea of buying American cars. They said as long as a car is made in the US by US workers, they didn’t care where the top executives lived.

LOL there are internet radio channels with much better reception, stream through the phone.

I may go dig out my old portable CD player and boxes of discs from under the bed and put in glovebox just for fun...

Of all the reasons to not buy a vehicle... getting made they drop an outdated and largely obsolete feature used by very few. As was stated, just stream internet radio if it's that big of a deal.

But hey, it's America choose the vehicle you want for whatever reason you want.

I can still remember when I boycotted manufacturers when they stopped installing 8-track cassette players in cars. It was such a bummer. I'm still waiting for them to come back so I can buy that new car again and dig out my old 8-tracks.

Yeah, not something I'll lose much sleep over... The only things I seem to be able to pick up on AM radio these days are the super-stations down in Mexico and a couple of talk radio channels...
Seriously, how many million watts must those Mexican stations be cranking out? I'd hate to live near one of their transmitters...
