I get better gas mileage with a RTT on the maverick than when I'm camping on my larger motorcycles. Truck = 38mpg Motorcycle 35mpg
While I get to camp places you can't drive a truck, I definitely get worse sleep in a ground tent.
If your argument is people do it for attention, then look in...
Nothing wrong with fear. It's not a bad word lol. A survival mechanism to keep yourself out of trouble. Which is exactly what you're describing :). Totally understand!
While I understand people being afraid to drill holes in the roof. If you need to add carrying capacity to the roof, this is the best way *in my opinion.
If sealing with silicone is scarry. Definitely don't buy a boat or an RV. It will give you nightmares.
I posted to let people know there is an option for high dynamic load roof racks on these trucks now.
Not to convince you of how to camp. Do what makes you happy :)
Personally I like the convince and I ride motorcycles which takes up the space you would put your tent.
Just for fun, guess what everything I added weighs and subtract it from what the load rating is for the bed. Even though the tent isn't in the bed, let's do worst case scenario. Then I'll tell you how close you got.
Hint, it's not anywhere close to the limit :p
There is a company that makes a clone called "spider racks" that doesn't require drilling.
I don't mind drilling holes and prefer bolting it and mounting over the bed was a no go for me.
Because I have a leveling kit so any weight in the bed throws off the distribution. I am installing Air bladders in the rear struts to adjust for hauling weight.
But I'm not towing a trailer so it's not really that necessary. Just an easy, cheap fix.
I tent camp 90% of the time from a motorcycle in the dirt off grid so I don't mind the old school way. But I love my significant other and roof tents have mattresses and stay clean from dirt and water.
Much more comfortable and convenient basically.
So Prinsu finally released a roof rack for the maverick! I think it's great quality and opens up a whole bunch of options for the Maverick. I added roof tent quick release brackets for camping.
To install you have to drill holes in the roof to mount (which I prefer over cleat systems) but there...
I tried using a splitter cable between the stock Ford USB OEM connector (it uses an old USB type b connecter) but data didn't pass through so I used a ribbon cable on the front to loop bac behind the dash.
It's the 5G consortium trying to drag the sheep into their dystopian future filled with dangerous millimeter frequency.
Back in my day we had simple healthy American A.M. radio.
Not saying I should, just seeing if I could :p 500lbs on tongue with front leveling kit.
Anybody make an air rear leveling kit for hybrid???
Compared to my 14mpg premium mandatory Rover . EHHHshh!
