NJ sales tax on auto is 6.25 percent so tax is 1768, not 2K. So now you are at 31,218 dollars. Fees seem high and is profit. I would offer 31K OTD and put the ball in his court. I would almost bet the ranch that if you persist, he will take it. Just my thoughts. May not be enough to quibble about, but $450 is still worth $450 in my old fashioned;) book.

Hi all, new to the forum and to the Maverick. I am in process of making a deal on a leftover 2025 model FWD Hybrid XLT. The car has following options aded:
1. Floor Liners $135.00
2. Ford Co-pilot 360 1.0 $795.00

Base Price is 30,645, with options and delivery charge the total MSRP is $33,270.00

The dealer has agreed to $28,300 price + $2k tax + $500 dealer fee + $375 doc fee + $175 title/reg fee, and some other small fees I cant remember, for a total of $31450 out the door cash price.

Is this a decent deal for NJ? Thanks!

Going in on Saturday to finalize the deal (or cancel the deal). Honestly haven't fully decided yet...
Thank you everyone for the feedback and input, appreciate it very much.

So, you have put money down and the dealership is holding the truck for you?

Yes indeed - i put down money a couple days back with my plan being picking it up on sat
If you get it, I think you'll have a good time with it. I bought mine during all the Maverick Madness. Consequently I overpaid little bit.
I don't have any regrets, so far 🤞
Good luck.

Yeah I think it will be a good car for me, the only negative I was able to dig up is some people complaining about rust/lack of rust protection on the underside, but then I also read many people get oil-based coating done yearly to prevent any problems so I may just do that.

As far as a good deal or not, you can get a pretty good idea on a site like TrueCar.
They use the year, model and location information to show what people are actually paying.

The discount you provided isn't too bad, but they made up for it up in fees.
The dealer fee isn't one I paid for, and it's straight profit.
I'd also tell them to keep the floor mats and spend a lot less aftermarket.

It's also a year old car, but you can get a grand cash back that Ford is currently offering according to ads I've been seeing. Did they mention that or will they keep the rebate?

Did you actually put down a deposit without a firm OTD price?
Often deposits are not refundable unless it states that the deposit IS refundable.
If it isn't noted as refundable, you may be stuck with the contract stated price.

I did not understand that you already put money down. Putting the money down pretty much rules out any further bargaining and you must have been satisfied with the price at the time. Not sure why you are asking us about it if the deal is done???? Reassurance? Move forward and enjoy the truck.

I would have looked at the build date to see how long the dealer had this Mav on the lot out in the sun and weather and just how bad he needed to move it.

Enjoy the truck!!!

Well I double asked to ensure the deposit was fully refundable in case I change my mind and they confirmed this. And yes reassurance is a big one, I wanted to make sure I'm not getting a bad deal, given that I have not had enough opportunity to do proper research on pricing prior to discussing with the dealer.

In terms of the mfr date, I believe I saw November (but not sure if that's 2024 or 2025) on the side door. I used gpt to try to pull some records and according to stock numbers it told me that it was delivered to the dealership in April 2026 and that based on the stock number it was likely from tail-end of 2025 production.

Yes I did put down a deposit, but was told it was a fully refundable deposit. The dealership has fairly high rating of 4.8 on google so I am pretty sure they will honor what they said if it comes to it - also I have no problem walking out if the deal is not right, I'm in no rush to buy, I have an existing car that runs perfectly fine for now with just over 100k miles on it.

At the end of the day as long as you aren't doing the walk of shame the morning after buying it you weren't screwed. Many people will tell you how they would put the screws to the dealer. Just remember no matter what you pay for your truck it is the best deal on YOUR TRUCK since it isn;t anyone else truck. Enjoy it.

a 2026 XLT with the same options is $34,115 on the website and you would still have to add $115 for a spare tire. Though they have employee pricing currently. $28,300 for an XLT HB is a good price. I'd say throw in the floor liners and we have a deal
