Adding back up lights that actual light up!

I don't know that I've ever had back up lights that actually light up the area behind you. Therefore one of the first things I do is add lights that do something. Attached is picture of how I added lights to my Mav. The only tricky thing about the installation was finding what wire in the taillight assembly to attach to. I may in the future imbed them in the bumper but for now they work great below the bumper.

My solution was replacing the incandescent bulbs with LED backup bulbs in the actual tail-light housing. Makes the image on my backup camera about 100% brighter in the dark.

I tried that also but improvement was nominal. Was brighter but much narrower beam.

no backup lights actually illuminate-I just use the backup camera and works great

I used LEDs in mine too. Lights the whole yard up behind me, far better than the OEM incandescents.

I like this but in the northeast Ohio snow I/you/everyone else WILL back into a snowdrift.

While I contemplate the purchase I am SURE that I would crack off the receiver tabs and install a locking hitch pin to hold it. I have lost any number of "cutesy" receiver covers.

It will still be an ugly mess when I forget and back into the snowdrift.

I used Diode Dynamics HP11 bulbs.

I chose to mount a pair of 3” LED pods under each of the rear bumper corners. They are wired to a 2-gang switch panel located on the bed cubby panel door. I also wired then through a remote control unit I keep in a shift knob console cubby.
