I have a 2023 xlt, hybrid, lux package. I changed out all my stock speakers for focal components. I am adding a JL 10” sub and a NVX NFA501 5-channel amplifier. I am having it installed w/ T harness & LOC.

To be able to use my fader, they are recommending the audiocontrol. LC6i. I noticed that this model does not have Accubass. If you have experience with this, please give me your input and let me know if this is the right LOC for me. 😊👍🏻

is the LC2i just as good? Is a fader over-rated?

thanks! George

You don't need a LOC, you need a full DSP or a kicker key loc(easy dsp) at the least. If you're willing to put that much into it, go ahead and get a DSP of some sort, and you'll be so much happier with the sound. If you really want it right, get Forscan and set the factory EQ to flat(super easy to do). Setting the factory EQ to flat won't negate the need for a DSP of some sort, but it will majorly help your low end bass response! The factory head unit majorly cuts the bass 35hz and down(regardless of which speaker inputs you use). The change in Forscan is in the "easy section" of Forscan, so you don't even have to go into the "as built" section or mess with the hexadecimal numbers.

I fought and fought with mine, until I figured a lot of the above info out. I went into it knowing I'd need a DSP to get the sound right, but I didn't know about the Factory bass cut. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get my sub to sound quite right, but setting the factory EQ to flat brought back the low end I'd been missing. Before that, I had to boost the frequencies below 35hz like crazy with the DSP, and they still were weak. Just trying to save you some frustration :)

$215 LC7i
$165 Dayton 408 DSP

Which would you think offer more control and will make your truck sound way better? Even if you don't want to learn how to tune then you can pick up this instead and tune it with the push of one button.

$279 Kicker Key 200.4 amp and built in auto tuning DSP

So for only $65 more than the LC7i you get a Kicker 4 channel amplifier with a DSP. Really easy judgement call here for me. I just so happen to have a ton of these amps in stock. They are my #1 sellers.

Sounds like the OP is well down a path. I would use a Kicker KeyLoc instead of LC7i, personally, but if the only choice to make is whether LC2i or LC7i, definitely the LC7i.

I hope your plan was to bi-amp because, no, I would not use 2 channels for the rear pillar speakers. It's a terrible design with a small speaker firing straight into the rear passenger's head. I would just leave them on deck power faded low for a little rear fill - or disconnect them completely.

Hush's suggestion is a good one, also. I would use a better amp but you'll need more than just a Key 200.4 to drive the front doors and a sub. There's a reason why the 200.4 + 500.1 is a popular combo, do that instead of the LC7i + NVX amp.

The Key amps do not need any LOC to work. They have built in DSP that handle everything. They accept high level inputs so if you had a plug and play harness like the ones I build then it's super easy to install.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but can I ask what you ended up doing?

Also, is that the Focal Flax Evo PXE or another model? Or are they a slim version? I didn't think they would fit depth wise.

I went with a Puzu. That certainly would be considered the lower end but more than fulfills my needs. I never really knew much about sound, cabin gain, frequency cancellation and such. I have been playing with it for over a month and it’s literally astounding me how much of a difference it can make. Changing something like a coaxial crossover frequency from 70hz for example to 65hz can change the response of the subwoofer dramatically because of frequencies canceling each other out which gives a false interpretation of a problem. I think a DSP is a must have and worth the effort and expense.

I ended up going with an LC2i. It didn’t seem to make sense to have a fader situation with a 4-channel LOC IN SUCH A SMALL AREA..
