My Air Conditioning always defaults to on after every key cycle (every start). I don't want A/C at 5 AM. I want to make up my own mind the rest of the time.

Anyone else's do this? Is it a user option in one of the menus?

Do I have to go to a dealer to "program" the truck not to do this?

Thanks. XLT Hybrid

Doesn't it just remember your last setting?

No that's the point.

I'm pressing the button every morning to shut it off. It's San Fransisco so usually I don't use it in the day either. If I forget on the morning drive, I remember when my teeth start chattering.

Hmm. Don't know on that one. My Escape generally remembers last state, which has been a/c on down here.

Are you pressing the AC button or the power button?

I want fan on only.
I have front vents selected only
San Francisco is usually ideal 60's and 70's.

I have the temp dial turned all the way down to when it says "Lo". I wonder if that is the reason. I parked tonight with AC off, yellow light off, temp set to 60 instead of "Lo". Will see if that makes any difference tomorrow morning. But honestly I don't want the car adding any heat. If it's 55 outside I'm happy to have that 55 come inside. You know it gets warm, greenhouse effect and all that.
The yellow light for the A/C button comes on every new key start even though I park with the yellow lamp off.

Yes! Lo overrides everything else setting wise. You should have said so at the start. So does max heat. Which will turn on EVERY heating element available and roast you out. Typically the de-ice and defogger electric heat strips are not used to add heat to truck unless selected separately.

If you have auto just set it to a relatively cool number. I generally have mine between 70-74 and hardly ever need to touch anything. Maybe fan speed from 3 to 2.

I drive for max MPG.
I don't want any cannibalistic loads.
I'll turn A/C on about 85 degrees. In San Francisco area, that's not too often.

I'm pulling trips like this every day on level ground. I do use the radio but turned off DRL to save power. 😎

Mine seems to set AC ‘on’ for me (and also some heating functions) automatically. It seems to depend on outside temperatures but I honestly have no clue what those different thresholds are.

I pretty much always use manual settings, never Auto mode. I seem to run cold since I rarely set my AC below 76 or so, usually it’s set at 80-82 once I push out the blackbody radiation of the interior after a few minutes. Did I use an astronomy term correctly there?

There is an instrument cluster menu option for "What to do when a remote start happens."

Heated seats on? Yes / No
Climate control on auto? Yes / No

Auto means "anything over 72 uses air conditioning, anything below 72 uses heat."

Came from the factory default to auto.
BUT SUPPOSED TO BE FOR REMOTE STARTS ONLY. Superstitious, I turned mine off even though I'm not using remote start. Had no effect.

Then set your AC to auto at 85?

I drive to get places, I control the car, I don't let it control me or my comfort. But nice MPG though!

I have experienced the same issue and it drives me nuts. I only want the fan turned on to bring in the outside air with no temperature conditioning added and as soon as I turn on the fan control the ac button lights up. I then push the ac button to turn it off, and very time I get in the truck it happens the same way. I do have the temperature set to the “low” setting, which according to one of the responses above, that must be what is causing it ?
