900 mile club. Computer thinks I can do more!

1st time going over 900 miles with my 24 Maverick hybrid! With the cooler weather on its way, I doubt I’ll reach 900 miles again for awhile. The computer in my Maverick display thinks I can do better! I thought that was kind of funny.

It took 14.5 gallons on the fill up so the real miles per gallon was right at 62mpg. Still amazed with this truck! Over 15k trouble free miles so far!

Truly incredible amount - and not even scraping bottom of tank.
Interesting it is giving a higher estimate next time.

Very early 11 mile morning commute with no traffic. On the way home it’s slightly downhill. Mostly 30 mph city commute with a 45 mph highway stretch of a couple miles. My last tank I got 870 miles. I’ve filled up twice since the start of summer. I do time traffic lights to where I don’t use the brakes. It can be done!

Imagine you took a trip like this where you never had all those warm up cycles: Drive all day, one warm up cycle, about 190 miles a day for four and a half days. Five warm up cycles compared to over forty on that commute tankful. Of course, could be kind of tedious at those speeds. Probably even be difficult to actually go those kinds of distances with out traffic flow being much faster. Does show though, just what a fabulous urban commuter vehicle the hybrid Maverick is. Wonder how it would do on a Blue Ridge Parkway tour?

Your hybrid has a 16.5 gallon tank.
The owner's manual for the hybrid listing the tank capacity is wrong.
Current and former members have proven that to be fact .

How many gallons can you put in a hybrid. This many.
This would include the filler neck presumably. Not a good practice.
There isn't 2+ gallons in the filler neck.

Yep every hybrid manual says 13.8
That's a bit of fiction. Just like the manual says, that you have to have the ignition turned on to use the emergency fuel door release. Again fiction. As proven by "Mavster Mechanic"

No - it's bigger than stated - that's the point.

Per fillup - and not topped off level or overflowing. 2 clicks.

ETA:
Here's my fillups to 2 clicks. Others have gotten the over 16, per specific testing.
But this just proves the manual entry is bogus.
13.8 is what the system uses for DTE estimates.

There's something about the hybrid mileage that makes one want to dabble with the hypermile game. I pay $2.489/gal, but for those who have to pay higher prices, I imagine the temptation is even greater.

$189 saved at $3/gal

Ha! I’m going from 17 mpg to hopefully something closer to 50 mpg. And, gas is $5 a gallon where I live. That’s close to $2K for those 10,000 miles.
