Have you watched the following two parameter ID's (PID)?
HV battery temperature
Battery coolant temperature
In mine, battery coolant hovers about the same as ambient. Warmer, but only 2 to 8 degrees. And if ambient goes up by three, the coolant goes up by three. If ambient goes down by five, coolant goes down by five. Very "passive" and predictable.
The HV battery temperature goes up in a reasonable manner. Proportionate, commensurate with how vigorously I'm using the battery pack. In stop go stop go which results in charge - discharge - charge - discharge I can see 1 or 2°F rise per minute. When cruising at constant speed, it still heats up, but more slowly.
The battery pack does not cool down as expected. At a red light; even a really long red light, temperature holds, but does not go down. Parking in my driveway after a 1 hour drive, when I leave the key to run, in 10 minutes of park; the HV battery may cool 1°F, possibly 2°. But, no whooshing air either.
Today; I coasted down a mountain for 8 minutes at 50 to 55 mph with truck in N so there was zero charging or significant discharging (0.7 amp to keep the truck "on") and even with 55 mph wind, the battery did not lose temperature but held steady.
Ambient was 91°F
Coolant was 94°F
Battery was 111°F
Drove 30 miles to a much colder town.
Ambient was 78°F
Coolant dropped to 84°F
Battery was still 106°F
So what do you see?
It "feels like" the battery coolant is not circulating. It feels like all these changes are just from natural convection and passive radiation to the surroundings.
But is 111°F high enough to turn on more "active" cooling?
