I have seen as low as 27.X% and as high as 72.X%. At both of those numbers the powertrain changes it's behavior. I have watched this for almost a year, every day.

At the low end it will revert to what I refer to as locomotive mode. It uses one motor(generator) to generate power and send it directly to the other to propel the vehicle while the battery SOC remains stationary.

At the high end it will just stop charging and, on long descents, begin using the combustion engine for engine braking.

I spend a lot of time at the high end during the winter from running to generate heat for the cabin, and a lot of time at the low end during the summer while the A/C uses the battery.

Ditto to above.

60% is the "happy normal" if you are not driving in EV mode very much.

Both high charges above 70% and low charges below 30% shorten battery life. It is optimal to stay in the middle.
Thanks!

I knew a 100% battery is bad and I wasn't expecting it to be. I was expecting 80% max and like 50% on the lower end.

I don't charge my phone to 100% (and other stuff).
