Thank You.
I have a 2023 xlt. When it gets a little hotter around 100° ambient. I'm going to see if mine automatically turns on when I start the truck. After having turned the AC system off when I parked and turned off the engine.
I realize if it's 100°f ambient and it's 147° in the cab and I have the auto climate control engaged the AC will come on.
If I've turned everything off at the previous shutdown. I don't expect anything to come on automatically.

I'll remember to video the results.

Reading the various threads on this, it seems like it's a Sync 4 quirk, so the 22-24's don't exhibit the same habits.

My 2 vehicles that had/have Sync3 act the same as my Lariat with Sync4.

Fellow Mav owners, if you are like me are tired of driving around with the windows open and your AC on because it goes on all the time, even if not in Auto mode, then take a couple of minutes and contact Ford. Maybe they will reconsider this stupid thing.

Same for automatic headlights that default to automatic every time you start the car. Unlike normal cars where you can select Auto headlights or to do it yourself.

If you also dislike these two features, you can contact Ford here and tell them. You can do it via chat too.

https://www.ford.com/help/contact/?srsltid=AfmBOopd74hFrmEqxb24i_HjAMHRK6jh0w-llOtB_2Tl-6H-qAPzkz7q

It might not work, but maybe if enough people say something they can fix that.

PS if you like these things, this thread is not for you! You will not lose them, if you want your AC on all the time day and night, in freezing weather or with your windows down, you can still have it by putting in AUTO AC mode. If you want your headlights always automatic, then you put it on auto once and never touch it again. Please don't clog this thread up with how you like it or lame explanations of why the AC should be on all the time. This thread is for those that don't appreciate this automation and lack of control.

Thank you.
I let Ford know I appreciate both features, thanks for the link!!

Oh ... OK, I stand corrected and take that back then. I look at it as my 25 has two HVAC settings ... auto and semi-auto lol.

Well ... I let Ford know that I didn't appreciate your appreciation, so they should unappreciate it. So there!
...and I let Ford know that I did not appreciate your un-appreciation of his appreciation to recancel your unappreciated unappriation of his appreciation...

Yes, in my 25 the AC comes on automatically depending on outside temps. These days, w temps between 40 and 80, it’s a crap shoot.

the worst part is the indicator light under the AC button on the touch screen is tiny and not bright. It gets washed out by sunlight. And of course it takes a few seconds for the screen to boot up, so it’s a distraction to check once underway.

I’m fine w AC at 90 degrees or on the highway, but not others wise a fan so I agree this design/feature is a fail.
a/c comes on when it detects higher humidity levels that = thinks the windows are foggy and the a/c removes the humidity and clears them up.

The headlight deal doesn't bother me.. it saves brain cells from having to remember to turn the lights on when i can be using those cells for something more important.
The A/C is yes annoying since i can get in the pickup and start up at 41 degrees outside/ no fog/ no humidity/ clear glass/ no reason annndddd there it is on again! Drives me nuts shivering to find the a/c icon when i should be checking mirrors and screen to back out in to the road....

I have a 25 and the air is totally a pain in the posterior!! Outside air temp 62, inside set at 72 and the air comes on. Yes, I can feel it. It is blowing cold air. Outside humidity can be much less than 60 percent so I do not know what triggers it. So, you want to turn it off. Using your trifocals attempt to see the dimly lit ac symbol almost completely over on the right of a display screen. Do this while driving. About half the time you will turn on the passenger seat heater if you have the lux package. The other half of the time you hit the rumble strip on the right side of the highway. If I sound like it irritates me, you have made a correct deduction. The one factor that makes me miss my 22MY.(n)(n)

Still waiting on delivery of my new Mav so not sure of all nannys, but, the headlights "auto on" issue is just a DRL feature, right? If so, maybe its because its cheaper to include for "other" markets that require them (CA, EU).....?

The AC thing...... would be weird if true. My '23 Superduty will at times turn on the defrost sometimes when starting in cold temps, but think its a software glitch, or, due to me using it the last drive.

Other manufacturers have customer complaints about software glitches that turn things on/off automagically on subsequent starts which are not "features" too. Maybe poor testing before marketing....
Yes, in almost all modern vehicles, the air conditioning (AC) system automatically turns on when the defroster is activated. The AC acts as a dehumidifier, removing moisture from the air to clear fog or frost from the windshield much faster than heat alone.

For the automatic headlamps, do you mean the actual headlamps themselves, or the auto high beams?
Headlight switch defaults to Auto every time you wake the vehicle. If you leave the vehicle with the switch on Off, it will return to Auto for your next drive. Auto highbeams can be disabled, defaulting to Auto headlights can not.

So, you know, you don't forget to turn your headlights on, which is easy to do with 1) auto lamps, and 2) an instrument cluster that is lit up all the time. The only cue to remind you your lamps are off is the little indicator lamp in the corner, which is easy to overlook, making it easy to forget to turn your headlights back on.

This is a good feature.

Glenn, we have the exact same truck 23 XLT. I wonder if where we live low humidity is playing a role. My AC acts exactly like yours does. I also turn off everything when parking for the night and nothing ever comes on the next morning. Maybe not humid enough for the AC to kick in?

I have a humidifier. I will test putting that in the truck.
Of course I will take pictures.

I turn my A/C off before I turn off my engine. When I start my engine again, the A/C does not come back on unless I turn it on. Did they change that for '25?
Same here.
