I bought a new set of 225/65-17 (stock size) Michelin Crossclimate 2 tires for a cross country trip I took in mid-January this year in my 2025 AWD hybrid XLT w/4k towing from the PHX area to Boston Mass to pick up a sidecar motorcycle. I was towing a 6x10 enclosed all aluminum trailer (with a 6.5' high roof inside)weighing about 1200 lbs. with the sidecar bike in it (on the way home) the total weight of trailer was about 2000 lbs.

I hit some snow and ice around Erie PA and Buffalo NY on the way but drove through a snow storm on the way home for several hours in Harrisburg PA in the middle of the night. Overall the tires and AWD saved my butt I am SO glad I replaced my OEM continentals for this trip! My mpg stayed the same as OEM with these tires - right around 40mpg when not towing which is my normal mileage. I averaged 21.5mpg for the trip driving 55mph the entire trip with the trailer empty on the way to Boston (about 2600 miles) and loaded on the way back.

The road noise with these tires is less than the OEM Continentals which had 17,000 miles on them when I had the Crossclimates installed. I will most likely keep crossclimates on this truck for the entire time I own it. They outperform the Continentals in every way and of course are better for snow and ice than the OEMs or the Michelin Defender 2 tires I had on my 22 Maverick Hybrid - also a great tire.

I tried the Cross climates along time ago. I’m sure they have been much improved over time.
Mine got really noisy after 20,000 miles. I got rid of them.
Getting the Defender 2’s in a slightly wider size of 235/60R 18 on my 24 Lariat.

My primacy’s are falling below 7/32, and nearing the yellow zone on my depth gage.

The Defender 2’s look like re badged XC LT4’s That Sears sold for decades.
I a got crazy long service life out of those.

How about an unbelievable 190,000 mostly highway miles out of one set. I ran those down to the wear bars. I ran that set on a light extra cab Taco in the 2008 flavor.
I drove it easy like a tractor trailer rig with careful attention to braking, anticipation of future stops and easy peasy in the curves.

And 90,000 out of a set used in mixed driving,
Equal city and highway, also to the wear bars.

Michelin XC LT4 tires, often sold as a Sears-exclusive version of the LTX M/S, are highly regarded for providing an exceptionally quiet, smooth highway ride, and long-lasting tread life. Designed for light trucks and SUVs, they offer reliable all-weather traction and enhanced durability, though some users find them slightly firm.

Couldn't agree more. I put the same on my Maverick with 100 miles on the odometer and sold the OEM Michelins. 14k miles on them. Fantastic tire all-around.

Thanks for this info - I've got 20K on my Continentals, and plan to replace them with the Cross Climates. Will keep my eyes open for the 3's!

I like fat tires. My future pick, over the Climate2 is still Falken Aklimate Grand Touring All-Season 245/55R18. It sells for $218.00 each verses $283.99 at tire rack. I still have plenty of time to change my mind as the stock Michelins show no appreciable wear at 9400 miles. Ripped from the Tire Rack website:
"The Aklimate is Falken's Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of coupes, sedans, minivans, crossovers, and SUVs looking for confident performance in any season. Conceived as an all-weather, one-tire solution for environments that experience all four seasons but don't receive enough snow or ice to need a dedicated winter tire; Aklimate tires meet industry severe snow service requirements and are branded with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

The Aklimate features a specially developed all-season compound molded into an asymmetric tread pattern to provide optimal traction in a myriad of conditions. Large shoulder blocks generate sure-footed dry cornering, with lateral notches to evacuate water when the situation calls for dynamic handling. Four wide circumferential grooves provide hydroplaning resistance in conjunction with the generous siping. 3D Canyon Groove Technology provides enhanced grip in slush and snow."

Climate2 noise in earlier post can't justify the higher cost for me. Climate3??? I'll keep checking tire posts for further insight.

Jerry,
Nice looking tires.
On Discount Tire over 4,000 reviews.
Only 9 reviewers gave it one star. Probably owners that cross rotated their tires themselves and didn't understand why they couldn't handle their vehicle.😲
Yeah, I know about the bot review BS, blah, blah, blah.

Thank you for posting. 🤝

Shortly after getting my new 22 Maverick XLT, I found a set of 18" Ford Bronco Sport rims, bought the Michelin Cross Climate tires and installed. I have 46,000 miles on them and still great tread left - yes I rotate with oil change every 5,000 miles. Best tires every for me.

There are lots of youtube videos on the Cross Climate tires, both CC2 and CC3. Europe fot the CC3's about a year ago.

Great choice ;)

Personally, I think the CC2's look great on the Maverick. AWD + AW/SSS/M+S is a killer combo that will get you wherever you're going.

Yep not surprised your really happy with the Michelin's, one just can't hardly go wrong with them imo. In all my old years it's the only brand I purchased for all our vehicles. Never had a complaint with their service life, ride, noise, quality and safety. (Well one minor exception, years ago i did have an old truck just for off road/hunting club use that I keep big mud tires on that weren't michelin).

I have the Cross Climate tires on my Mazda CX-5 and love them. When I need to replace the OEM tires on my Maverick, I will replace them with the Michelin CC tires.

My coworker turned me on to the Crossclimate 2's and I put them on my AWD Ford Fusion, they're amazing tires, never got stuck in snow or skidded on ice driving through multiple snow storms over the years with them.

The Cross Climate 3's are due out soon. Been waiting for them as the reviews say they are even better overall than the CC2's.
f1jim
Ill wait for the CC3 and then buy the CC2s when they are discounted.... SCORE!

That was my initial thought, but reading the article from Michelin, it will be several years before the CC3 is released in the USA. They are currently tailored to EU driving applications and would not meet the mileage expectations for US/CA buyers.
