On a road traveling to my house around 40 not going downhill and transmission downshift to lower gear and rpms went up to 2800. Anyone else having this problem? I know it will downshift on the road using cruise but I wasn't using cruise

I haven't. But my Hybrid doesn't shift.

Is the truck fully warmed up when it happens? Or just when cold?

What transmission mode are you using?

Eco, towing, normal, sport, etc. all are characterized by different upshift and downshift behavior, and different torque converter locking/unlocking also. The differences are not problems, but simply computer software settings.

A downshift in cruise control may also be because of an additional headwind or a imperceptable gentle hill climb.

How does eco mode work in EB? Does it clutch release the tranny and idle the ice and then when the pedal speed desired exceeds the coasting speed of truck re-engage the tranny and choose the appropriate gear???? Might happen if you did not change the go pedal at all??

The trans is a bit shifty in any mode. Im
so used to manual cars I guess I’m critical about my shift points.

I have not studied the different modes, but normal seems to keep the torque converter unlocked in low gears at low speeds, and keep the RPM low, and does downshift down hills somewhat to help control speed. Eco upshifts a little earlier and locks the torque converter more often and seems to never downshift to control speed. Maybe sometimes it does, I don't really know. I never use sport so I don't know about it.

I always use towing mode in the mountains because the shift points keep the RPMs higher when climbing and cruising, downshifts much earlier in a descent to help control speed better than normal mode does (as much engine braking that a 2.0 can help with) and locks the torque converter in low gears. This is really good! Locking the torque converter helps, a lot, to keep the transmission cool during long hill climbs as most transmission heat comes from a slipping torque converter. I have smelled the tranny after a long climb in normal mode. And no, I don't have the towing package with the bigger trans cooler. I would have bought the tow package if it did not come with lower gearing. But selecting towing mode seems to solve hot transmission problems on mountain road ascents, and significantly helps with braking on steep descents.

Mine does this as well, but only driving in Eco mode, which I think is a pointless option for a turbocharged vehicle.
mmm, i find it useful for the adaptive cruise... it doesn't just put the pedal to the floor when it needs to speed up, say going around a slow moving vehicle after the Mav slows down. more gradual acceleration which improves economy...
