We’re excited to share that our Steeda 555-1046 Maverick FWD Rear Sway Bar (22-26) is officially here! This upgrade is built specifically for the FWD platform to deliver a serious improvement in stability, responsiveness, and overall driving confidence.

What It Does
This sway bar is engineered to reduce body roll and keep the rear of the Maverick planted, giving the truck a more neutral, predictable handling feel. It will help your Maverick stay composed during daily driving, carving backroads, towing, or carrying heavy loads.

Built to Handle Anything
Proudly designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA from 1" solid steel, this bar is built to outlast your Maverick. CNC-machined billet steel ends deliver superior strength over stamped or coined alternatives, while the signature Steeda blue powder-coat fights corrosion.

Adjustability For Any Driving Style
Take control of your Maverick's handling with three-way adjustability that lets you dial in the perfect feel. Start in the middle hole for balanced daily driving, then stiffen for track days or soften for comfort. The result is a more sportier feel in a compact truck package, making every drive more engaging and enjoyable.

Check out our YouTube video for more details, installation instructions and customer reviews: How to Make Your Maverick Handle Way Better!

Looks like a well-engineered kit.
-However-
Stiffening up the rear with no changes to the front will make your maverick prone to oversteer.
For those who don't know, oversteer is the tendency for the rear tires to lose grip on the road while turning in low-traction scenarios (wet roads, etc.) because the rear suspension will be less compliant.
So. After installing this, take it easy in the turns until you learn your vehicle's new handling characteristics.

Steve — as the original owner can confirm, we’ve thoroughly tested the new bar on the street, and oversteer has not been an issue. We wouldn’t release a part that compromises any other aspect of the vehicle’s performance — that’s simply not what we do.

Being in the Mustang game for over 40-years ... we got this :)

It won't if the vehicle is already biased toward understeer as the Maverick is unless too much torsional spring rate is used in the bar, which is highly unlikely in Steeda's case. I've owned two Steeda rear sway bars on FWD vehicles in the past, and both of them had great neutral balance away from excessive factory understeer without being prone at all to oversteer.

Agreed, I like it but not for $500...
Exactly !
$300-$350 Tops. But it looks great.

My Stock Mav on stock Michelins turns really well as long as I don’t try to take corners BMW fast.
It’s current, ‘Body Roll’ keeps me out if trouble,
Under steer is easy to control. That’s why Ford builds it in. All you do is lift your throttle foot and let the weight shift to the front.
Over steer is a beastie on my narrow roads.

But that bar would likely take the Mav to a new level of performance. I bet it would feel great on every turn slow or fast.

I’d get the most benefit up here in my Appalachian mountains when transitioning through my tight switchbacks and sweeping corners.
Adjustable, I love it! Tinkerers paradise !

I want one !

Havent driven the fwd mav.
Just awd. The awd steering and vehicle stability is great imo.

? Is front wheel drive that different it needs an upgrade?
How much is that being noticed on fwd or is that just for the particular people that are fine tuning?

Hi Steeda. I liked your video you posted and like the idea of a rear sway bar for my front wheel drive hybrid Maverick. Question? On this particular example with the gentleman you installed it on, he has Blue springs in the rear with a few coils paited black. What is that all about? Do those unique springs improve the drive more than the stabalizer bar would? I don't know, but just asking and would love to learn. Thanks in advance.

None of the Mavericks drive bad and to the average person they drive just fine. The sway bars on both FWD and AWD are for people who want more than "just fine". If you're the type (like myself) who really enjoys throwing the vehicle into corners and having flat and neutral handling, then the sway bar is for you. For me, it's a night and day difference and it makes driving so much more enjoyable.

You've quoted me in the questions you've posed to Steeda.

The minimal body roll on the Maverick surprised me compared to the Ford Escape I had been driving.
