I asked FordVideoGuy about this on his livestream last night, but my question got buried in the comments and he did not get to it/see it. It is a current "option" to select on the Maverick 2022 builder via ford.com, and has been that way since around July 1st when they bumped the price up 1K on each trim level. I plan to "add" (seems weird to say add for something that is being removed) to my 2023 order when I place it. I don't need a hotspot.

Yah they will give the option for now to keep the hotspot but it may prevent scheduling where it is constrained. Anyone that's wants a quicker scheduling will want to add the removal option along with other tech items causing delays.

Looks like it's confirmed as of today.

According to Ford Authority sources, 2022 Ford Maverick production will be updated on August 22nd, 2022 to exclude the 4G LTE Wi-Fi feature. In other words, all units of the Maverick that are assembled on and after that date will not include the feature. The feature, which includes a three-month of 3GB free trial period and requires a contract with AT&T to remain functional, will no longer be included in any Maverick model. Previously, it was standard across the entire Ford Maverick lineup.

Pickups that are impacted by this change will receive a $20 credit toward the purchase of the vehicle, denoted on the window sticker and invoice. Meanwhile, customers that order a 2022 Ford Maverick in the future may have the option to select the 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot feature removal option in order to avoid production delays. It’s worth noting that the other features included in FordPass Connect will still be included in new units of the 2022 Ford Maverick.

That also explains some of the production delays and weeks where they didn't produce any. Not enough hotspots.

Did that happen automatically, or do those of us with unbuilt orders need to contact our dealers to request to add the hotspot removal option in hopes of speeding up scheduling?

Before yesterday, you had to ask to have the delete added. As of yesterday, it's automatic. No new builds will have the hotspot.

I’ve had hotspots on last 2 vehicles and not used them for 1 second. I guess it might be valuable to use a tablet or laptop but you can just tether to your phone.

HotSpot in my Motorola G7 is all I need and it doesn't cost me any more to use it unlike the AT&T 4G in the Maverick.
