3rd Brake Light replacement- need opinions

I do not like the look of chrome at all and the OEM 3rd brake light has bugged me since day one. I like the black accents as I feel they compliment the cactus gray well. Not sure if I dig this light though. Thoughts?

Here’s the light. Not sure about output as I put it on 20 minutes ago in broad daylight.

We've got similar builds and my thoughts on chrome are the same. That said, I don't know that I love that light option either but can't really say why. Maybe to me it still needs the red in the middle to help it stay visually connected to the taillights and their color? I don't think it looks bad by any means, just not sure I dig it either .

Light output is better than factory but not as bright as the led replacement bulbs I put into the factory lamp.

I really want to do this upgrade. But I had one that leaked awfully in my Mark LT truck a few years back. Afraid to risk it. Too much water up in Washington State. I guess I will sit back and wait to see how this one performs with heavy rains and carwashes.

Somebody posted a video today of upgrading the bulbs to LED but keeping the fixture. I will probably do that since I actually like the look of the stock fixture - it ties in with the brake lights.

I feel like the third brake light is definitely body color dependent…. In your case with the Ted tails and fx4 badge, I think the one with red in the middle and blacked out sides would look better…. This ones a tad too black for me on your color (I have Oxford white and have struggled with whether to replace it cuz I think the chrome pops with the white, but any other color I’d be quick to swap)

So mine just got here today (no mav yet tho). Which way did you install the gasket? Adhesive side facing the cab or facing back towards the light? Can't find instructions on the amazon page. Probably doesnt matter too much but want to make sure i do it right
