Dealer temp tags, arent they printed out? Mine was.

Chapman gives you a cardboard one. The registration #’s are printed but they write on it with a pen or fine sharpy your vin # etc. From what I understand the state of PA sends them a stack at a time for out of state transactions. In state is different and probably the printed ones. Not sure but I got the cardboard one. I’m in Florida like the OP.

In GA we are allowed 1 30-day temp tag.

I hope they have it better worked out by the time mine arrives.

I bought a vehicle from military auto sales, picking it up from a GA dealer when we arrived back from Japan. They wound up giving us THREE 30-day tags because the GA dealer kept getting the runaround about registering the vehicle (my next station was in OH). When they gave me the third temp tag, they said they had never done that before. Once we figured out that I had to register in OH, I used my bill of sale from 7-8 months earlier, and since it was dated over 6 months ago, my car was "used" and not subject to sales tax in OH, saving me about $3k.

That was a good day.

This literally has nothing to do with the Ford Maverick and everything to do with your shady dealership. You should consider reporting them to the BBB

They goofed up with my paperwork as well. The communication was horrific with my contact. He"d say one thing and the office did something different.

I finally called directly and spoke with a nice lady in finance. She had a 60 day temp tag sent to me by email, so I could pick up the vehicle from the CD.
I printed it off, stuck it in the back window and drove it to Florida on vacation.

The card board tag showed up while I was out of town.

Hope they get you straightened out. I was extremely frustrated with them and the poor communication.

Doubtful I'd buy another vehicle from Chapman.

Yeah, you should have gotten the title in the mail. It has to be signed and sent back to PA. And then from PA transfered to your lender and home state.

Getting my plates in Missouri took 10 minutes after getting home from Granger in Iowa with it. I don't understand why it takes so long in other states.

Even the guys that do plenty of interstate sales like Chapman and Granger can goof things up every once in awhile. Every state is different. Every state is weird. Here in Arizona, private party used auto sales must be notarized.

Yes, it absolutely does mean it is illegal to drive in Florida.. Per Florida State Statute 320.131 (l)(3): "Using a temporary tag that has been expired for a period of 7 days or less is a noncriminal infraction, and is a nonmoving violation punishable as provided for in chapter 318." More than 7 days and it is a criminal violation with a mandatory court appearance. Thanks, but I'd rather not aim for a misdemeanor because they haven't done what they should.

Even when the DMV was in a major slowdown due to the 'rona the police would issue you a ticket if you didn't have valid registration, your fault or not.

Look man, in all seriousness, is driving on bad tags the worst thing a "Florida Man" does????

I found mine in Virginia. Everything went smoothly at Jerry’s Ford. Just as they promised over a phone call.
Got all my paper work and plates w/tags in the mail. Took about 2 weeks. I did not need to go to the DMV.

OP, didn’t you pay a DMV fee when purchasing? Some dealers call it a dmv doc fee/plate and reg fee, etc.

Mine was $350. It’s a fee you pay that makes the dealer responsible for all dmv duties. They register the car, put a 2027 inspection sticker on, and mail you the plate.

call them and ask for the GM and explain the situation. He’ll mail you a new temp or figure it out.

Most places have rules against having too many unregistered vehicles in the yard, and many have rules against parking in the yard even if registered.

It doesn't surprise me that the dealer doesn't have temp tags. PA is a terrible state to live in when it comes to anything to do with vehicles.. we have to have our cars inspected every year and they can't even keep inspection stations stocked with stickers so you end up waiting forever to get an inspection done.

Just noticed you are from Kane. Do you have Jim and Ginny Coppersmith by any chance?
