Gonna be hard to sell to him without the titleI have a friend that will gladly pay $30k for your lawn ornament.
I'm a bit confused, why would you leave the dealership without ALL of the proper paper work? and why exactly do you need the title to register the truck? To clarify a few things, I could go to the DMV if I had the proper paperwork from the dealer to do so. They could also have sent it to the state in a timely fashion. They could have sent me what they were supposed to the first time. I could not have to burn PTO or lose money to handle sonething that they should have done. They are in violation of state law here.
No, I cannot take the old plate and just stick it on there; that is illegal. I could show the cops anything I want but it is still either going to be a ticket or a misdemeanor depending on how long it has been expired. If I do get hit with a misdemeanor I am not going in pro se; fool for a client, etc. There is no way to avoid that building as it would mean either an aerial approach or physically moving the building as I could throw a rock and hit it from my office.
I appreciate the advice but telling someone to just go ahead and break the law is not something you should be doing.
OP should have just bought his truck in Florida...My dealer in florida (jarrett jordan ford) had dmv authority and issued new plate same day (saturday ) . The plate was on truck and registration in my pocket when I drove off the lot . Also applied for title at the same time and received the title 3 weeks later . I was pleased with their service . Sorry others having trouble getting registration and titles . I guess the dealer /organization makes a big difference . Unfortunately the dealer I bought the truck from is an hour away and the dealer close to me (for warranty)is questionable . Canceled my maverick order with them because they were not responsive to my inquiries .
Bought from Chapman. Live in FL. And therein lies the other issue. There was also a multi-week delay in getting the stuff to Ford Credit, too.I'm a bit confused, why would you leave the dealership without ALL of the proper paper work? and why exactly do you need the title to register the truck?
If you had taken out a loan you would not have the title, the bank would.
I hope you get it sorted. Good Luck!!!Bought from Chapman. Live in FL. And therein lies the other issue. There was also a multi-week delay in getting the stuff to Ford Credit, too.

Some years ago I let my wife’s tag expire and the second day afterwards she was stopped for a routine license and registration inspection in NC. She got a ticket and is still mad about it. I’ll hear about it for the rest of my life. Chances of a routine stop theses days are nil, but my advice is to not let your wife drive with an expired tag.Of all the things Florida let’s slide, that’s the one they’re gonna enforce? Lol. I’ve driven on an expired tag in NC for like 10 months. Don’t recommend it but still
OR - run out of gas when she is along - just don't do it, been 50 years and still reminded on occasion. Some years ago I let my wife’s tag expire and the second day afterwards she was stopped for a routine license and registration inspection in NC. No where did I say it was 'legal" but Unfortunately you are confusion "the law" and the "application of the law". Your interpretation of the law is how most people under stand it and makes people unnecessarily fearful. The worst possible scenario is that 1st IF a cop 1st stops you, and 2nd issues you a ticket. Any judge in his right mind would throw it out, especially for taking someone to a hospital. The type of law you are talking about is in every state but is for the willful law breaker. Can you tell me a state where it is written into statute it is ok to drive on an expired tag or even a metal plate?Yes, it absolutely does mean it is illegal to drive in Florida.. Per Florida State Statute 320.131 (l)(3): "Using a temporary tag that has been expired for a period of 7 days or less is a noncriminal infraction, and is a nonmoving violation punishable as provided for in chapter 318." More than 7 days and it is a criminal violation with a mandatory court appearance. Thanks, but I'd rather not aim for a misdemeanor because they haven't done what they should.
Even when the DMV was in a major slowdown due to the 'rona the police would issue you a ticket if you didn't have valid registration, your fault or not.
