Why are you so bitter John?
LOL, I'm not bitter at all. I'm not afraid to be honest here either.

What part of my comment wasn't 100% true?

Those without BAP, the standard Lariat interior, are the door panels and dash as light as those on the XLTs? Or are they somewhere between the XL and XLT in color?

For those who have the BAP, are the Vinyl armrest on the doors Black/Grey in color or still Navy Pier. I know on XLT they stayed Navy Pier, but I don't know if they went a bit further on the Lariat and transfered the Vinyl (ActiveX?) of the seats and console armrest over to the door armrests.

Just doing additional research... :)
Before I ordered my '24 Lariat w/BAP, I drove over to this dealer and saw it in-person. The light-gray on my (non-BAP) '23 XLT is much "whiter" than this BAP version.

Yes, I've seen non-BAP XLT in person (have test driven two), I'm aware of the 'white'. I have not ever seen the interior of a Lariat (BAP or not BAP) in person.... I've seen allot of non-BAP Lariats in Sonora, but it was always in the evening and all windows were super tinted, so I just haven't seen the door panels and dash color... I wasn't sure if the standard Lariat door panels and dash are as white as the standard XLT door panels. However, when I look at the photos here on the Maverick forums, the standard Lariat stuff looks very white, just like the XLT.

Where as it appears a bit different on the Ford Build site... I think with the standard Lariat it's another instance where the Ford site is altering the colors again, making it appear medium grey instead of white, just like they make the navy pier blues appear less blue and more slate. oh well... We all know the Maverick has terrible interior color palettes... LOL! Guess we could complain about that all day.

It's an admission that they got the colors wrong and hopefully we will see it corrected in MY2025 refresh.

Here you go, pulled from another post. You can see in the first one, how the lighting changes the blue on the rear door to look more like gray:

That's the XLT BAP package.. So yes, the door panels are in fact darker grey and not white.. Standard XLT are white. Standard Lariat don't look like that in actual customer photos either (even if Ford 'stylizes' them gray in the Build photos for the standard lariat).

The lack of real interior pictures is hurting this thread greatly.
The dark blue hue to the door trim is really not noticable depending on how much light is coming in. At night it looks dark gray, open the door in day light you can notice the blue color. With factory tint you look at it and go huh is it blue or black, probably with sone 25% tint on the front window it would look black.

Picture are difficult depending on time of day where vehicle is. Outside, garage.

I use interior paint from an automotive paint store, not the rattle canned stuff. Not sure I will do the Maverick though, as it is just a cheap commuter.
I have used it before from a autobody supply store. It still only coats the vinyl and plastic and does not penetrate into it. The PVC cleaner petroleum mixture is supposed to penetrate into the plastic.

Preparation is key.

These are just the pics, but there's a whole article explaining how these sneakers inspired the interior design of the 2022 Lariat.

I copy and pasted this from the article:

Earlier on in development as designers were hard at work contemplating what the cabin might look like, Rob Brancheau, point man for colours and materials, had a flash of inspiration. While waiting to pick up his lunch one day, he killed some time in a nearby clothing store where his eyes were drawn to something special.

Sitting in the shop were a pair of Levi’s sneakers draped in navy leather with contrasting brown leather details and stitching, which Brancheau instantly purchased and brought back to the office. It would go on to inform the colour scheme of the Lariat, which boasts Navy Pier vegan ActiveX upholstery and Dessert Brown accents.

You need to ask questions of your salesperson when placing an order. If he or she can't answer it, then you ask management to get you someone that can. While they may not have had an actual Maverick on hand to show you, they CERTAINLY had any number of photos and images to show you pertaining to interior, exterior, options, etc... A well-trained, ethical salesperson would have taken the time to go over the order and made sure you understood everything you were getting (and not getting, based on the conversations you had up to that point). It sounds to me like that's what happened; at the very least, blame is split 50-50 between the salesperson and the customer for the misunderstanding.

That explains the seats... a lunch time impulse purchase by one guy... :cautious:..
But those white door panels and dash? That took the work of a committee... ;)

I guess technically each Trim has a different color for that speckled geometric plastic used in the door insert panels and dash structure (it's not exactly the same for XLT and Lariat):
<credit: this video at about 47 minutes Interior Design - Speckled Plastic >

XL is called Dark Slate (this is the one that most people tolerate well)
XLT is called Aspen Gray (we all just call it Coleman Cooler Porta-John White Plastic)
Lariat is called Horizon Blue (we all just call it the not quite as White Coleman Cooler Porta-John Plastic)

Tremor and Black Appearance Packages adopt the Dark Slate of the base XL for the Dash Structure and Door Insert Panels. They also borrow a few other of the black/grey plastic/rubber bits from the XL. However, the apholstry for them is unique.

The designer of those shoes should get a cut then. What a lazyass way to pick colors for the interior of a vehicle.

The tray change seriously changes the look of the interior and was worth every Penny I spent on it. I don’t really notice the orange anymore. Also I weighed the rims vs steelies vs the XL interior and decided I wanted the rims more than I cared about the interior as I had a feeling I could mask the orange or at least calm it down
I ordered the XL because I didn't want/need the few extra features on that trim and for the ones I DO want (i.e. cubbies...I can buy them and one or two other items with Ford Pass pts). As for the alloy rims? I'm in Canada so I plan to source my own alloy rims, swap the good Ford stock all season tires onto them and use steelies for a set of winter tires.
