I went through the experience of being an early order holder for a Bronco and I scrutinized the Ford website build tool for hours and hours, way too much time really. I chose Badlands for my Bronco, mostly because it had the least ugly interior.

The Maverick process was much simpler because there's so many fewer models and options to choose from compared to Bronco, but similar in that you are trying to make a decision based on a computer rendering without actually seeing a real vehicle or even quality pictures online.

I ordered my Maverick with the Black Appearance Package. I wanted a Lariat but I didn't want the two tone brown seats. Even though it wasn't totally obvious from the pictures on the Ford site, I suspected that there would be some bluish-gray colors involved with the BAP, which didn't bother me because my exterior color is Alto Blue. I think the interior/exterior combo in real life looks great and I'm very happy with it. I'm guessing the new Azure Gray is going to look nice with the interior also.

Neither the Maverick or the Bronco are targeted at boomers like me so what do I know, but I do wonder how many people actually like the brown/gray/blue color interiors. To me it looks tacky.

To me the biggest disappointment with the BAP is the wheels. So boring. I'm looking for an upgrade.

I ordered the XL because I didn't want/need the few extra features on that trim and for the ones I DO want (i.e. cubbies...I can buy them and one or two other items with Ford Pass pts). As for the alloy rims? I'm in Canada so I plan to source my own alloy rims, swap the good Ford stock all season tires onto them and use steelies for a set of winter tires.
xl here too with CG exterior - don't know why Ford thought it'd be a great idea to only offer somewhat wacky colors on the other trims......

So my '23 blacked out mav arrived saturday. Never got to even get in one before then. So why is my "all black" mav outfitted with some gross blueish ugly interior? Is that all they offer? I mean it looks horrible inside :(
This is the reason why I switched from Hot Pepper Red to Azure Gray for my 24' Lariat order with BAP.

The black and blue interior that comes with the XLT Tremor is why I ordered an XLT with the FX4 package instead, it will have the standard blue seats that match the rest of the interior. The blue interior also restricted which exterior colors I had to choose from, I opted for Iconic Silver. Some of the other exterior colors just don't go with blue, IMHO.

LOL, I'm not bitter at all. I'm not afraid to be honest here either.

What part of my comment wasn't 100% true?

.
To be fair you said !00% concerning the 30 year old Honda. There could be 1 or 2 that care..

So in short, what I gather from this post is that Mabett or Muslogy or maybe even RokBlokz need to come out with some replacement interior parts to interchange with some of the trim panels and pieces currently offered in the Mavrerick.....😛

It's all about personal opinion but I do feel like they need another interior scheme that goes better with the warmer colour spectrum. Especially for the Lariat.

I'm a boomer, 75 next month. I purposely picked the Lariat for the Brown/Blue interior. Saw a Lariat with the Black interior and thought it was boring. To each his own.

Paying an extra $2,600 up here in Canada for dubious extra features save for the alloy rims didn't make much sense to me.

I have made many fly-by-the seat decisions in my life. So I understand the pain of buying something that isn't up to expectations (haven't we all?). However, when I finally decided to pull the trigger on the Maverick, I was prepared. I probably built close-to 100 theoretical Maverick's on the Ford website over the last two years. I built multiple theoretical trucks in XL, XLT, Lariat trims. I did this one, out of boredom, and two, I wanted to make damn sure that when I went to put in an order for the 2024 Maverick I had sufficient insight regarding all trims, add-ons, etc. By doing this, I gambled that I would know MORE THAN the sales representative (which, turns out, I did) when I went to order. I wanted an efficient ordering process.

The XL interior reminded me of my 2019 Ford Ranger XLT interior both from the stock photo and the owner photos/video reviews of the XL. I knew I wasn't going to order an XL, but I wanted to be prepared in case some wacky deal came available to me.

Regarding the XLT, all of the stock photos, video reviews, and owner photos I had seen of the interior made it seem to me that the orange REALLY stood out. It didn't really bother me, but I found it odd Ford seemed to prominently emphasize orange on what is the most popular trim. The BAP, when that launched for the XLT, did not look 'black' to me in the stock photos. When I saw the BAP on an XLT in a video review, it looked smoke gray at best - not even close to black. I personally liked the colors schme of the XLT BAP but it really did not seem worth the investment of $1,600.

I ended up having the opportunity to test drive a 2022 XLT a while ago. It was pretty bare-bones (except for 4k Tow). All of the stock photos, video reviews, and photos I had seen of the XLT interior made it seem to me that the orange would REALLY stand out when I saw it in person. However, when I sat inside the truck, outside of the orange accent console liner pieces, my eyes were not fixated on the orange interior. I really liked the Navy Pier and blue on the seats/rest of the interior.

The Lariat was never going to be an option for me with the standard brown interior. It looked AWFUL in stock photos. In the owner photos and video reviews I reviewed, it looked even worse to me. The BAP on the Lariat in stock photos looked spectacular to me. However, I found it VERY hard to justify spending $1,600 just to have the privillage of having black interior. I thought about potentially ordering a Lariat and just buying seat covers, but that would not solve the issue of the rest of the brown trim interior. Plus, I had concerns with seat functionality with the seat covers. I considered the Lariat Tremor but I could not justify spending $40,000 plus to own it.

When it came time to order the 2024, I was between a Lariat and XLT. I ultimately decided that the Lariat with the BAP was just too much money for me (I am not taking out a loan). I ordered an XLT in Atlas Blue. I relied on my experience with the 2022 XLT I test drove. At the end of the day, I prefer cloth seats over faux leather/leather (nearly every vehicle I have had has had cloth). I plan on buying aftermarket console trim liners in black and removing the orange liners. Or hell, I may just keep them. They really are not THAT bad IMO (YMMV).

Probably why Atlas blue was so popular this year.

These are just the pics, but there's a whole article explaining how these sneakers inspired the interior design of the 2022 Lariat.

It's pretty amazing how that works. I watched that movie "Air" recently and I can see it. It's the same in architecture.

The designer of those shoes should get a cut then. What a lazyass way to pick colors for the interior of a vehicle.
Taking inspiration from something is not synonyms with stealing an idea or a copyright. It's often how some pretty great songs are made too.
