Don’t take Butterscotch’s advice.
Don’t sue the school district and the poor bus driver. He made a driving error but he didn’t hit you on purpose. That’s why it’s called an Accident.
Just seek to be made financially whole again like you were the day before the accident.
Don’t become part of the population that thinks you will just sue the hell out of others for personal financial gain. The more people think that way, the more the world sucks.

Your truck is perfectly repairable. The school district will be happy to pay for the damages. Don’t get some dumb ass personal injury lawyer involved.
True - Not my truck but it really p***es me off that someone that irresponsable has kids in his care and can't drive. As I stated in another thread ensure you do get demished value - also stated in this thread. Time for a Saturday Night Live idea - "...more cow bell..." I hope everything comes out in the OPs favor and doesn't cost him any money.

I realize it’s upsetting and all that your new truck was damaged but it doesn’t look that bad, it can easily be repaired like new. No doubt the driver misjudged but don’t think it was on purpose. Just be thankful kids nor anyone else were hurt. Material things can be repaired or replaced, lives can’t

So much bullshit Op,
I was playing. You’re not totaled. It takes a repair bill that’s near to 45-50 % of the used value of the vehicle to total out in most cases.

Your insurance company will handle it.
You don’t need to concern yourself about who pays.
Just get a good rental, I hoe you had rental insurance.

You can tell the newer readers to the forum based on that they thought you were serious.

That truck is totaled for sure :)

Agreed, but the diminished value for having an insurance claim is very real and should be compensated for.

I have a 2025 maverick, with under 12,000 miles and i had a school bus hit me, while i was STOPPED at a red light. He pulled out and tried to get over in the turn lane, and well, cut it way too sharp, was not really an impact as much as skating along the entire drivers side rear end...

Looks like will be a new rear fender, bumper, entire light assembly, and taneu cover as it was also damaged...

Kids on the bus screaming at the bus driver he was hitting someone, just kept going .. he finally got the idea once i scraped up the entire side of the bus... 3 cars from the school system , including the superintendent and garage manager showed up.. the teenagers on the bus were merciless to the driver..

so pics below, what ya think the damage will be?

To add to the post... yes the driver stopped after the kids got his attention, yes he knows it was his fault, the cops also, and the school board.. i will in no way sue this is a minor accident, and im not a one of those people that sue for everything.. i just want my truck fixed.

I have noticed in my area the constant ads for school bus drivers. They couldn't pay me enough to drive today's kids anywhere. It's gotten so bad to get drivers they offer classes free to get your suspended license back so you can drive a bus.
It's a constant race to the bottom underfunding model that results in understaffing and underpaid drivers. And this is what we get.

Find a lawyer and sue them for replacement of your Mav with a new 2025 XL Hybrid like you have.
Settle for nothing less. WHile there is no cure for STUPID we do have a choice on how we resolve the screwup.
And yes, you can sue them for a brand new Maverick - go with a Lariat Hybrid. You only get one shot at this.
You do realize that car insurance pays ACV which is actual cost value, it is only homeowners insurance that pays RCV which is replacement cost value. So technically, no, insurance does not owe to replace your ā€œusedā€ truck with a brand new one

No, $5k won't total this truck. I know as I had an almost $10k repair and that was repaired at the FORD dealer's body shop, the highest repair rates. FORD will likely hit you up for close to $6k for a $4.5k repair job at a reputable shop. As I recall they charge $150 per fart, LOL!

Plenty of YOUR dollars! How hard is it to understand that the money any government entity has is taken from the citizens. You can sue your hearts content but YOU end up paying in taxes.
Agree 100%. All this gibberish of lawyers, sue etc for minor stuff like this is just another sign of the deteriorating mindsets of our society now days. Utter foolish BS imo
