I need to have my keypad programmed, I was thinking about putting it on the upper tailgate (plastic trim) area
If you do I’d like to see a picture I’m still deciding where to mount my key pad but definitely not on the door or side window trim

I really wanted it under the tailgate handle, even though it's paint there, but it's curved. I like the back glass or on the bed near the back glass, but I want to get a topper soon. I'm not going to mount until it warms up a bit, hasn't broke 40 here in a month or better

Can it fit nicely in either one of these spaces?

With the wireless keypads.....is there any worry someone with a wifi style device could copy (or skim) your code when you enter it ? Also, wondering if the door wiring still has the connector for the wired style keypad?
You are entering it by pressing on keypad - so that would be a video camera attack recording your presses when you are unaware.

Think of it as fancy fob with numbers instead of lock/unlock buttons.
Instead of 1 button sending the unlock/lock command, you have to get several numbers in right sequence to send the same command.
Truck just receives the lock/unlock command as normal thru same frequencies.

I'd be curious what distance it has to be for signal strength - because it would have the same attack vector as any fob usage could have.
But if much shorter range, safer in that respect.

I like the vertical location you show in the photo even though there is less surface area for the tape to stick too…

I was thinking about that too. The recessed lines might prove annoying. Some isopropal, 3M VHB tape though with a bit of heat gun and I'm fairly certain that would stick until you remove it.

Yes, but I eventually want to find a topper and it would be blocked then
Ah i see. If you're going to have a topper on permanently there might be a gap you could fit it in there (if it's not a flush mount against the rear glass). Or stick it right on the topper base in that general location?

I had the dealer installed version on a Fiesta. I was disappointed. It was just peel and stick. They charged $250 for that, including the installation. That version did not have replaceable batteries. They died and I let it be. It was still there when I traded for a C-Max.

I like the keypad. It came in handy when I was outside and wanted to grab something but didnt have my keys. My wife’s 2021 has the factory keypad. It’s invisible until you touch it. I wouldn’t pay to put one on the Mav. I have the 24 Lariat Hybrid.

I hadn't paid much attention to mine; didn't really need it w/ the fob in my pocket, however I got to looking at it the other day and noticed that whoever installed it was obviously very careful and used a level to get it nice and straight. Unfortunately level w/ the ground is not level w/ the belt line of the body below the window. Not sure which way would be correct. compare it to the body line and it looks crooked but it you back off and look at it, it's parallel w/ the ground.

I understand thieves have equipment to pick up and retain the signal when you use the key fob to unlock your doors. Would this also be a problem with the stick-on keypad which transmits a signal??????????

Love my exterior keypad;♥ I have not touched a key fob since July 29th, 2022, when I picked up my Mav!!!🤞

Warmed up enough today to do some decal work and I also put the wireless keypad on the truck
Decided on the tailgate above the handle
