You can edit your order without it resetting the order date as long as you do not do major body code changes. For example, don't go from XLT to Lariat. If I recall, 2025 uses different body codes for many more things than in the past (in the past something might have been a package, but in 2025 it has its own body code), so watch out for what might reset the date. You are only really locked down when you get a VIN assigned/a scheduled build week. But even at that point some changes are possible. The one I have seen mentioned as sometime still being possible is the color. But I have also seen where a color change was not accepted. I think the best way to describe it is that once you have a VIN and production week, your dealer can enter changes, but the system sometimes kicks them back/rejects them.I have placed an order for Maverick XLT hybrid AWD.
I plan to do a final configure later on... am I on the right track? somebody..
All that being said, 2025 orders aren't going to begin being assigned VINs and build weeks for a while. So if your plan is to edit your order in the next few weeks, very low risk of that being a problem for you. If you planned to edit your order in December, more of an issue (potentially).
And.....if you and your dealer are willing to game the system a bit, even if you did make a big change like going from XLT to Lariat, your dealer can use a better priority code on your order if they want to counteract any reset of order date. For example, if they have all their orders at priority 19, they could make you an 18 so that your order is looked at before all their others. The Ford Scheduling system is going to respect the priority code ahead of order dates. So there is some flexibility there to "manage" any "damage" done by editing an order weeks or months after it is placed.
