2024 or 2025?

So I'm new to this forum, and I've enjoyed reading through.

I ordered a Hybrid XLT in April, and it's supposed to be manufactured in late June, and I'm excited to get it. My brother in law has a 2023 which is what got me interested.

I've recently read that the 2025 model will become available for pre-ordering in July. I've seen that it will be redesigned, and I'm wondering if anyone on here has an opinion on whether it would be smart to wait for the 2025 to come out or stick with my 2024 order? Any perspective offered would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I would wait for the 25. While the price my increase some, it's another year for Ford to add improvements, offer some prior upgrades as standard equipment, and correct a few more bugs.

This is a tough decision, remember there are a few things that a 2023 had, that were no longer avilable on a 2024. Maybe the 2025's will have a better pick of options, and packages, plus being the newer design for the next 3 years. (larger info screen, homelink,etc)

This is a tough decision, remember there are a few things that a 2023 had, that were no longer avilable on a 2024. Maybe the 2025's will have a better pick of options, and packages, plus being the newer design for the next 3 years. (larger info screen, homelink,etc)
What did the 2023 have that was dropped on the 2024?

Without being too critical of your post, the 2025 speculation is just that - it might have a better pick of options. Fortunately, my 2024 isn't supposed to arrive until late July or early August, and if the 2025 options have been released and are far better, I can back out and pre-order a 2025 then.

One trick for me is that I'm giving my old car to my son to take with him to college in August. So if I wait until the 2025, I'll need another vehicle in the meantime. If the 2025's price isn't much higher and the features are much better, I'll figure something out. But it certainly would be simpler to just stick with the 2024 as originally planned.

What did the 2023 have that was dropped on the 2024?
As I can recall, least the following:

Secure code keypad (XLT, Lariat)
Headed windshield wiper rest
Manual sliding rear window option
Stand alone 120 volt inverter option
More color options for XL
Lower price

there may be more I am forgetting.

Waiting is your best friend right now. Dealer inventory across the industry is increasing. Prices are dropping. Incentives are reappearing. Waiting lets you test drive a 2025 Maverick or even a 2025 Santa Cruz, and the 2024s will still be on lots here and there come January.

Somebody mentioned a production increase with the 2025s. Haven't read anything about that. It would surprise me, because the Hermosillo plant is pretty much fully utilized. On the other hand, maybe they're changing the Bronco Sport vs Maverick balance at the plant.

You can get the keypad installed after the fact from the Ford Accessories web site. It’s $120 + $24 installation from participating dealers. The big difference is the earlier models had a hard wired keypad while the ‘24 is a stick on and battery powered. It is a bit larger than the hard wired. I had a dealer do the install at my house and it works great. However, my understanding is the battery is supposed to last around 8 years and cannot be replaced. One benefit is you can place the stick on pad wherever you choose.

I read the production increase thing somewhere online...who knows if it's true.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I will at least wait until mine arrives this summer. Perhaps then I'll know more about the 2025. If I was just going to be trading in my current vehicle, I'd wait for sure. My problem with doing so is that I'm giving my current car to my kid in late-summer, so I'll need something to drive at that time.

Order banks opened up in July last year and Ford is planning a 13-month production cycle for MY24 so MY25 order banks won't open up until August most likely with production starting in October/November time frame.

Take into consideration that the first MY25s will likely start arriving around Christmas into your timeline.

Honestly I wish I could give up the option for a sliding rear window on my Lariat. Not something I will ever use or want. Just another seal to potentially go bad and need replaced, especially the way it's designed.

Devil you know vs devil you don't. For me potential price increase and added new problems (or features as they're called) would keep me in a 24.

If you're a fan of playing order games (I'm not). You could cancel or give up you're current order. Place another 24 order closer to July so your build date is after the 25' order window opens then really figure out which you want.

My dealer that I've dealt with for 30+ years, said my deposit is gone once it gets scheduled. So yours coming in July/August hasn't been scheduled? If it has, you can just simply "back out"? 4-6 month wait around here.

No no no , he should cancel his order and wait 10 more years to realllllly get all the kinks out.
Heck might even be able to get one for the same MSRP price it is today after depreciation and inflation.

My dealer that I've dealt with for 30+ years, said my deposit is gone once it gets scheduled...
What's a deposit? That's a nice kick in the butt for 30 years of loyalty.

My small town dealer took my order over the phone. All they required was a copy of my driver's license for COVP, which I texted to them. No deposit necessary and they honored price protection upon delivery, as promised on the phone call. I had never even met the salesman until the day I went to pick up my Maverick. The only additional cost OTD was $129 doc fee, which I was aware of in advance.

Yeah they said I didn't need to put one down, but they also don't want to be ordering a bunch of Mavericks, having them scheduled, and getting them in without everyone bailing on them.
