The hybrid Maverick also has an electric booster heater. 👇👇
The 2023 manual says hybrid has electric booster heaters.

Electric Booster Heater Operation
The electric booster heater ensures that the passenger compartment can be quickly warmed up when ambient temperatures are low.
It is a heater element made up of ceramic resistors that is mounted in the climate control housing.
It directly heats the airflow into the passenger compartment rapidly in the case of low ambient temperatures.
The current is switched via three electric booster heater relays located in the BJB / BCMC.
...
Electric booster heater operating parameters:
• Engine is running
• HVAC controls have been switched to the highest temperature setting
• Engine coolant temperature is below approximately 75°C (167°F)
• Ambient air temperature is below approximately 12°C (53.6°F)
• Sufficient generator capacity is available

The electric booster heater is deactivated when an engine coolant temperature of approximately 85°C (185°F) or an ambient air temperature of approximately 15°C (59°F) is exceeded.

I'm in fla. And it was about 60 degrees. I believe. Engine temp per the gauge gets only to halfway between hot and cold.
Right in the middle of the gauge? That would be the normal operating temperature spot. You should be getting a good amount of heat, it won't be smoking hot or anything though. If the air from the vents is still cool, that's a problem.

That could be one of the blend doors.
I really doubt it's a heater core.

Thanks for the response.
When it first starts on electric, it should be warm? I just feel ambient air and that's with the temp on 85. It's warm in defrost mode though.

It will not heat up right away, even the electric heat booster takes time. If my front window is covered in frost it can take a good 10 minutes for it to clear.

If you hit the MAX defrost button it forces the electronic heater to come on, given the right conditions.

Try one notch past 85 to HI.
That will start the electric booster heater.
I'm fairly certain the engine will also start.

Its not a heater core if its blowing hot air at the defrost vents correct?

If it's blowing heat, it's working at least somewhat. If there is no heat without defrost, there is an issue somewhere in the system though. Whether its a software bug, or a problem with the doors that switch air flow, that is up for debate. If you are still under factory warrant, get it checked out.

I have a 2023 maverick hybrid. I tried using the heater. The temperature gauge was between cold and hot. I turned the temperature knob to i85 degrees. It blew cold from the large vents from the dashboard. When turned the fan knob to high it switched to warm from the smaller defrost vent on the top part of the dash. Am I missing something when using the heat from the engine ? I hope I explained this right. Hope to hear from someone.
I sorry if I sound stupid, but I would check my antifreeze level.

Set it to a comfortable level (70F) Leave it on auto. It will start blowing heat when the engine has warmed up.

I, too am learning how to run the climate control of my '23 XLT hybrid in cool weather.
I often wonder what's going on when I don't feel breeze from the vents; I presume that the system is somehow trying to maintain the selected temp, given the outside temp.
One thing I will try is turning the climate control off, and seeing if the system works like a conventional heater.

I find the hybrid has to be running on the gas engine for a good while before you get a lot of heat. The Atkinson cycle engines used in most hybrids just don't run as hot as some other ICE vehicles in my experience with the Maverick, and a Toyota Hybrid car. On the Maverick heat from the engine is also being used to keep the high voltage battery at optimal operating temperature as well.
My Hybrid puts copious heat out of the vents in about 2 minutes starting at 40°F.

I'm rarely colder than that as a starting point. I'd expect it to take longer at say, -40.

First thing that comes to my mind is the blend door.

The heater core will always be what your water temperature is (usually way too hot).

The air conditioner will usually be way too cold.

Therefore it needs to "blend" warm and cool to get to your setpoint. Not unlike blending hot and cold water when taking a shower.

Great picture. Weird condition.
Poor explanation.

You have if specifically set to floor only.
Not really. I was somewhat replicating what the OP had posted.
In post #3 the OP didn't have any idea what mode the climate control was in.
I demonstrated a manual mode setting because he mentioned he only had air coming out of the large vents.
I demonstrated at 85° and fan speed on four I had no air coming out of the large vents. As long as you want to you can manually control the system.
When I want heat to keep my feet warm that's the button I push, in order to keep the air flow on my feet.
I have heated seats and heated steering wheel, but they don't keep my feet warm.
Definitely not copious amounts of heat.
I take pictures, so I don't have to use a bunch of words to explain something.
It seems a lot of members tend to read the title of the thread and go right to posting without reading any thing in between.
