For me, I dislike the delay, the wear on the starter, the reduced HVAC When in stop mode. The negatives for me outweigh the positives. I float right around 30mpg with a 50/50 mix driving. I have seen zero difference with the stop/start disabled. I’m sure results could very depending on how much time the motor is off.

To each his own
Sounds like some good points. Thanks for laying it out.

I think manufacturers have gotten better with starter designs. There are three styles out today, I’m not sure which design Ford has adopted.
The main concern today by manf is motor bearings Ware. Although, there has been improvement the current estimated life is 100k starts, with dry lube technology attempting to get to 200K starts. it makes me feel like I’m getting a much better life by avoiding unneeded starts.

Read an article about the starter used. It has long-wearing brushes that should exceed the lifetime needs. It also has ball bearings instead of bushings for the armature. The ball bearings will not wear as a bushing will over time, and reduces friction.
I am not arguing for/against the automatic system, just noting that there was some thought put into the design before it was released to production.
I have no problem with it being defeated or left as manufactured, and like the ability to defeat it in certain situations, such as when accelerating to merge from a stop, or cross traffic is somewhat heavy.
If I can find the article, I will post the URL.

All of this is one more reason I really do not like having things on your car/truck that while off still require battery juice to stay operative/work/monitoring. It puts a continuous load on your battery and as far as I am aware the constant requirement of power on and then recharging of your battery shortens battery life.

Maybe it’s time for vehicles to start coming with a separate accessories battery.

Yea. kind of like many trucks have a second battery to operate a lift bed.

Good point about when the light turns green and u have a must make move off the line when a delay would be costly.

A few points:

1. The auto-start/stop eliminator has coupon codes for 15% off you can find in lots of places (normally on forums) - search around - order directly from the site - think mine was $85 shiiippped

2. The short term eco-friendly gains of auto start/stop are likely outweighed by the wear/tear on associated components.

3. None of us - none - of - us - should be ok with Ford spying on our vehicles. Starting my phone via an app vs privacy + less battery drain:

Our Honda CRV that we traded in on the Mav had auto start-stop, but also a switch on the dash to disable it. I did that. Apparently the Mav doesn't have that? Did the same with the "jiggle the steering wheel if you get close to center line" mode. HATED both.
