my air compressor install in the bed cubby was a relatively safe and easy project, and pleased with the way it turned out; last week I picked up a nail in the right rear, and used that new compressor to fill the slow leak several days in a row until i could get the tire shop to patch the tire
I have to ask why you didn't do the install on the smaller panel just to the right of large storage panel? I suppose it's just a matter of preference. I must admit it was more of a chore to remove the plastic that nests the clip-in part of the 12v line and drill a clean hole into the smaller plastic panel. Having gone through that experience without the benefit of a drill press I can pretty much answer my own question.

I keep thinking when I get my mav to add these, they look very cool. I can imagine for camping they would be very handy. But I would want them locked in some way and I don't want a bed cover. I can image someone figuring out they can charge their phone using my mav and come out of a store with someone's phone connected to my maverick. California is weird that way.
Mine shuts off after approx. 30 minutes.

Better protection from the elements and from any possible damage loading or unloading

You would be surprised at how simple it really is. All you really need is a spade bit that's the right size and a couple of wire nuts.
I highly recommend using a forstner bit rather than a spade. More cutting surface on the forstner gives you a much cleaner hole. I've used both (the spade first because that's all I had) and then a borrowed forstner. With the spade I had a lot of cleaning and filing off to do to make a neat hole. With the forstner, it was a perfectly clean cut out.

This is a great example of what I posted about how everyone here is helpful and I'll go ahead and use the word, "inspirational". After following this thread I decided to buy a small compressor for my truck. I bought the Husky 12v and was walking back to my truck when it suddenly dawned on me that the Lariat has a 120 outlet in the bed. Why didn't I remember that?! Immediately exchanged the 12v for 120v model. Very happy with it.

Just did mine over the weekend . Wanted it as clean as possible so I installed it inside the cubby. It includes USB, USB C, 12V and voltage gauge. You cant see it now but the 12V port lights up inside .

HAS ANYONE THOUGT OF REMOVING THE ELECTRIC COVER ON THE LENT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE BED AND PLACEING A WEATHER PROOF 12 V OR USB CONNECTOR THERE. ALL THESE INSTALLS LIIK NICE. IJUST HAVE A PROBLEM MAKING EXTRA HOLES IN MY TRUCK. I HAVE SEEN THE 12V AND USB PLUGS ON LINE. I HAVE THE 110 OUTLET SO POWER IS NOT A REAL PROBLEM FOR RUNNING A 12V FRIG OR CHARGING PHONS, LAP TOP OR IPAD WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD.

Joe, I did not disconnect the battery but was careful when threading the wiring behind the bed frame to the plastic cubby. The USB port I used was a from NAPA auto parts designed for marine use, the air inflator was from AutoZone, the cubby is a Ford accessory

This is exactly what I did. Did you drill a separate hole for each socket, or did you cut out a big rectangle? I did 2 holes which made it very hard to get the socket secure from the back side.

2 things I'd do differently:
1) Instead of putting the sockets in horizontally, I wish I had put them in vertically, so both were equally close to the opening. His & mine have the cigarette lighter further back.
2) I wish I had cut out a rectangle instead of drilling just 2 holes. Would have saved myself a lot of time.

Do anyone have the dimensions of the little plastic cover over the pigtails?

I'm thinking I might mount a single 12V there if it is big enough. If not, I'll just do the USB-Cig combo inside the bin.
