I really want to do that! I would electrocute myself or destroy my Mav though.

You would be surprised at how simple it really is. All you really need is a spade bit that's the right size and a couple of wire nuts.

I don’t know. Electrical stuff scares me. I’d probably just pay someone. Does that run from the DIY electrical in the bed? I wonder if I could put a 12 volt right where that is.

Not sure how he wired it but very likely all he did was attach the pigtail and connect the wires. The 12v accessory cover looks a bit too small for even one socket. But if you remove the panel where he mounted it, it's all open behind there, so connecting the wires should be a snap. The hard part is drilling the holes in the right place but the worst you could do is bork the panel and have to order a new one.

FWIW I am planning on doing pretty much exactly the same mod if I ever get my truck.

Nah. Its only 2 wires. Red and black. Super simple. You don't even need to disconnect the battery.

Yes it does. 2 wires. You can't mess it up

There are other drill bits that are easier to use for those less experienced in such things.

The two touch-control LED bed lights were a dealer installed option that just came in today; they came in handy late this afternoon as I finished installing a marine grade 12v power outlet in the bed cubby to run a 15amp Pittsburgh Tools air inflator.
