My truck I’ve had for 2 weeks now pops a warning every time I drive it. There is an issue with the 12 v charging system. It lights the battery light then after a minute goes away.

can’t get an appointment for three weeks. Dealership said it’s not a critical fault but what could it be?

Did they test your battery and alternator? What warning light comes on? Did you pull a code from OBC?

First thing that comes to mind is to check the 12v battery terminal connections. See if they are lose and tighten them up if they are. It could be a bad 12V battery, happens with new batteries all the time. It also could be a power supply circuit in the junction box. Lastly I would check the alternator for any lose wires. I don’t recommend doing any serious work but since you can’t get the truck in to the shop you at least want to rule out the obvious.

Eeewww not good!
I know very little about electrical but I monitor battery and 12v circuit with monitor display that I leave plugged into the 12v supply port (aka cigarette lighter port) shows battery voltage (when ignition in acc and everything turned off) and voltage when running). In my Honda CR-V in order to maintain 14.3v on 12v circuit something has to be drawing current or it drops to 12. Out of caution I leave leave fan/ running lights on to ensure battery stays topped off. If battery ever shows less than 11.4 I replace it. I put battery on charger January and June for several days in a weak attempt to help it out. I also try to have battery tested 30-60 days before warranty runs out and get proration credit on replacement if it doesn't pass. But to address your problem I would try another dealer for appointment. If truck fails to start have it towed to dealer (check manual for procedure, does he tow or you can call? I think towing in this case may be paid by warranty or you may have to rely on your insurance for towing and rental car if you have coverage). I would think that if your truck won't start, it is a critical issue particularly if it won't start in middle lane of expressway and you will get bumped in front of guy who just waited 3 weeks(?). If dealer cannot get to you which national service chain is approved servicer of Ford? Real pain that shouldn't have to be done. You might call dealer back who said 3 weeks for appointment and be polite and say that you are worried about not being able to start vehicle and could he look at it sooner and if he cannot then ask him where could you have it inspected under warranty? Does the maverick have a 12v cigarette style power port?

Since it seems like this post has gone dormant.... let's bring it back. I have the Charging system service now message. Been into dealer 2 times now. First time they updated the PCM and couldn't replicate the problem ( which is the way things always are they behave when the person fixing it comes buy or you bring it in) 2nd trip they found corrosion on a pin in the BCM. Cleaned it put Dailetric grease in there. 48 hrs later it has come back. Stuck a meter on batter and it's sitting at 12.5v with the truck off with the truck started the voltage on the battery posts and wires from alternator sitting at 13.9v. No power loss, or messages saying it's shutting down thing to conserve battery. Today noticed it seemed like the headlights were "blinking" right as I drove off and that is the only time I have seen so m etching like that so far.

Any ideas? I love this truck and is by far the best I have driven for winter in Maine. Including some AWD subarus and 4wd trucks. Maine technically has a lemon law after 3 attempts to fix the same problem. I would hate to do it but the law would require ford to either buy it back or provide me a new Maverick.. the latter definitely wouldn't be a possibility and I don't want a different truck (unless they wanna give me the same truck but the lariat 😁 )

Loose positive cable was the problem. Thanks for all of the ideas. Sometimes the simplest problem is the solution.
Why the hell are they coming from the factory like this? I mean this is crap quality control. This is basic stuff....come on Ford smartin up! Don't tell me it's no big deal. It's such a simple thing and they still screwed it up! These should be torqued to the correct spec at the factory no if ands or buts.

Hey there! Could you please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your battery concerns!

On my way to pick it up from the dealership now. They got a master technician from Ford on the case also the ford rep that reached out on here helped by getting FORD in on it.

They found a clip from the wiring harness that water had gotten in and corroded both the clip and the party plugged intoSo they replaced the clip, the wiring and the part that it went into and then weatherproof the whole thing
They weren't sure how water managed to get to it but hopefully all's good

I'll post again in a week or so with an update. Ford Rep called me literally everyday with updates and were pretty good about jt I would say they went above an beyond in helping h

You're lucky, mine has been at the dealer for 2 weeks now and not a single update. The Ford account on this forum reached out to me twice to gather information but hasn't done anything about it so far.
