12 Battery replaced now can't remove key from the ignition unless you disconnect battery
With 3102 miles last Saturday got the remote features disabled to preserve battery. Saturday night got down to 13F and call wouldn't start. Jump box didn't work both battery chargers didn't work. Jumper cables worked and took to a Ford dealer on Wednesday. On the way over a red Brake warning on and Tire pressure warning on even though I just filled the tires. When I got there and parked I couldn't get the key out.
They tested and put in a new Battery. It was not a quick lane appointment for the battery but I was there for 6 hrs. Now if you unplugged the 12 volt battery you can get the key out. Both of my keys stick so not the key. I can lock the door but if open with other Key or Fordpass the car is can be started. I could not get an appointment until the end of the January either there or another closer dealer. So driving 30 miles to drop it off.
The dealers I have talked to have never seen this. Has anyone had this happen and what to do about it.? Thanks

Sorry, I don't have much to offer as a solution, just a question. Why was the original battery replaced?

Good to know, curious why you replaced the battery already and curious if Ford replaced it with the same type, unless your off warranty already...

This is the first dead battery. When I got got to the dealer they charged the battery and only got 9.34 volts and then did another charge and test and it held 0% charge.
Still in warranty, 3,000 miles and only had it since June.
Why I think is the vehicle needs an AGM battery which has been talked about in many threads. Once I get these odd things sorted out at the dealer I'm going for a an AGM battery and getting a more powerful jump box which will be useful for my tractor too.

Under warranty Ford replaces the flooded cell battery with the same type, but a different battery model. The label seems to indicate that it holds a bit more charge, but who knows if it partially resolves the partial-charging sulphation problem. The real fix comes when they fix the software error that is causing the BMS to damage the battery.

Are you for real? You can't even form a sentence. I don't think you should be allowed to get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Sorry I didn't put put down the full "12 volt battery".
I was trying to differentiate from the drive battery in the hybrid.

Let me apologize for my bad writing.
And special thanks to Get Real for his kind words.
I was writing fast as I was pissed by sitting at a dealer for 6 hours and the truck is 6 months old with 3,000 miles on it.
After I posted and saw all my mistakes and I couldn't"t figure out how to edit it.
Still 3 dealer service centers have never seen a key that can't be removed without disconnecting the 12 volt battery.

I would start by checking fuses, not sure which ones tho. Perhaps when you were trying to boost it some glick happened.
I'm thinking this because on my 12 CRV, I had the same issue, key in the ignition switch could not be turned or removed after one time boosting the car. I also had the same battery issue as some are reporting in the Maverick, dead after sitting a couple of days. Honda replaced the battery 4 times in the first year. By then Honda came out with a customer satisfaction program to reflash the 'computer ' to upgrade the charging rate.
