Ok,has anyone done a tune and actually tested the truck at the drag strip before and after or used a hand held tuner to see the improvements?just a simple everyday tune, not a all you can get out of tune.

I haven't tried doing any tuning to my Maverick yet but if i do, Ill use my Dragy to document the pre and post tunes 60 foot, 1/8 mile 1/4 and 1/2 mile times. they are very accurate without having to get a time slip from the track. I do race my fox body quite a bit each year and have compared slips, also i just sold my Merc Marauder and found the Dragy to be very accurate to the drag strips time slips on that car as well.

cheers

I have not but I can say I have a mild 87-93oct flex Oct tune from Livernois as one of my tunes. It’s definitely less performance than the 93oct tune. Even with that mild tune I can consistently put several truck lengths on my uncles bone stock maverick. Same spec trucks.
If I make it to the track next month I’ll get a stock versus 87-93 vs 93 and e30

I do use the 87-93 flex one almost always. I live not having to do or find 93. Or reflash when I’m saving money. Just pump and go.

in broad strokes a tune only on a 22-24 will reduce 1/4 mile about a half second over trucks running premium E10 fuel in good weather conditions.

the fastest verified tune only I can recall just barely broke 14.0 sec on an E30 tune - which is what I run, but I don't have a draggy and haven't been to a dragstrip.

the maverick's huge issue with 0-60 is that it can't launch with any boost unless you have a livernois tune and enable launch control. I've seen folks with that combo get down into the low 4 sec range. I have no idea what this does for the longevity of the axles and transmission, but a person would think it's pretty hard on the drivetrain, and that's why Ford limits boost in 1st gear so strictly.

I would be shocked if I only gain a half second in the 1/4 mile. Being that most the guys I work with have mavericks and we obviously run them a lot. It sure seems like a much larger gap than .5 second. Especially with the e30 tune. Dam now I’m gonna have to get a draggy

I mean, off the shelf 93 octane tune is in the range of 40-45ish horsepower gain.

A big part of what feels awesome about a tune is what's done with Ford's mpg-at-any-cost TCM strategy. Any tune that also includes changes to the TCM makes that a lot better, and so the truck drives better, and performs better at part-throttle passing.

Correct but the hp is the smallest deal the trq is what seems to be the biggest increase. Even above the trans and the throttle tip in.

So that means we should see even better numbers from a decent time like Livernois or any of the Cobb tuners

According to my draggy, off the shelf 93 sport Trans tune from cobb was 14.1 - 1/4 mile down from 14.8 syock and 0-60 5.6 sec down from 6.3
that's exactly what the OP is asking for, nicely done.

and I was probably underselling it. 3/4 sec reduction in quarter mile is probably more typical than 1/2 second. if a person is running 87 and then switches to a tune with 93, certainly that would make a much bigger difference.

Yes this is very good data. Especially since a lot of people will buy a Cobb ots and call it good.
OP let me toss this your way. You are still much better getting a Cobb and custom tune or a Livernois tune than a Cobb ots for a safe tune.
Just mention that to the tuner when you are getting the custom tune and they will
Make sure safety is priority one.
A tune specifically for your truck is always gonna be safer even at higher power levels than a it’s tune.

Torque moves the vehicle... HP gives it the speed.

In the horsepower equation, when RPM equals 5,252, dividing it by the constant gives us a value of 1. So simplifying that equation for that specific RPM means that at 5,252 rpm, horsepower equals torque. (If you're a pedantic math nerd, it actually means that horsepower equals torque, times 1, divided by one.)
My Ecoboost begs me to let her run closer to, 5,252 rpm.

That checks out. Lots of variable but dropping half a second typically takes about 50hp.
