I mean how can it be a prank when the recall comes up on the official Ford VIN recall checker?
I said no to prank.

I said yes to weird. Like maybe Ford has an intern working the recall desk or got some files mixed up or something.
Too soon to tell.

I can't find ANY news on this outside of this site. Not ready to call it a prank. I am ready to call it weird.
There is no "prank". There is no "fishiness". There is nothing weird.

It takes time for the information to be disseminated.

Many here have confirmed that Ford shows the recall under their VIN. Multiple posters have shared the official demonstration/delivery hold notice to dealers.

There is no obvious reason to doubt any of this information.

This is from 2022
It's the cause of this recall, it's the same issue. ;) The first recall for the issue was just putting holes in the lower plastic engine cover and removing some louvers from the front grill to reduce the chance of oil build up in the engine bay in the event that the crankshaft failed and caused an engine fire. In theory this second recall is to fix the problem (poorly manufactured crankshafts) that could cause the engine fire in the first place.

So you're saying there's non-obvious reasons to doubt the validity of all this.

"So You're Telling Me There's a Chance."
Why would I say that when I'm one of the many who have confirmed the recall for themselves? Here it is showing up for a 2022 Escape FHEV AWD. What do I gain from making this up?

All I said was that it is unclear why you would doubt the legitimacy of this recall.

Nothing.

Could be a computer glitch (small % chance).

Could be human error (small %).
Could be real (high % chance).

I'll just keep marshmallows in the glove box. When Ford gives you lemons...

Better yet a under the hood fire suppression system.

well my father's hybrid built 5/17 still has no recalls on the tracker so I guess I'll have to see if they will deliver it to him.

Welp, that’s it for me, I’m out. Talked it over with my wife and decided it’s not worth the risk/hassle/headache anymore. Called the dealership to let them know I don’t want the truck anymore (scheduled for build on 6/22). Getting a Subaru Forester instead, will be a great family vehicle. Not a hybrid and no bed of course, but it’s the right decision for us right now. Will probably revisit the idea of a Maverick or something like it in the next few years.
Anyway, thanks to everyone in this forum, it’s been great. Good luck!
