I just have to laugh at people. Do they not know that high end vehicle manufacturers have been making people wait for years before they get their vehicle and they have to pay a premium on top of it?
People said they wanted to live like the one percent. Well, now you can.
And you only have to...
The C-level execs at Ford, BNSF, and J.B. Hunt all got together and said, let's screw with this guy's truck.
Yeah, that's it.
Or, it could be the result of a shortage of trailers, rail cars, truck drivers and engineers to move things...
I think that just the ones already in there would hold as much as the bed and your ratchet straps can hold.
But having extra ones to use makes it easier if you've got oddly shaped things to tie down.
I've had to do it twice, with the table and with the boxed e-bike.
I'm also proud of myself for resisting the urge to stand with my hands on my hips, grunt and then say "that's not going anywhere."
I did think it. 😏
Reading this thread, I'm reminded of Colonel Nathan R. Jessup.
Think for just one second about what you're saying. You're acting as if a company worth tens of billions is looking to screw you. Sure, they're holding back the truck you ordered just to mess with you.
No, it couldn't be supply...
Okay. I didn't realize that the ones on the tailgate were counted in that total. Oh well. I'll just purchase them and install them myself or if they won't fit without drilling I'll buy the rail with the sliding cleats.
No rush and no problem.
If that's the case, I'll just buy another pair. The holes are right there to put them into so why not? I'm also thinking of getting the rails with the sliding cleats but there's no rush.
I hit this milestone recently.
And I did it on two tanks of gas.
The Maverick is still doing a good job of what I bought it to do. It's a good truck for hauling supplies for my business. I've had the bed fully loaded a few times but there's never been an issue about me not having enough space...
Seems like it's something that affects one in a few thousand trucks. Now, if you are that one, it sucks. But for most people, it doesn't happen. Those kinds of things are next to impossible to fix because they occur so infrequently.
Here's what I know. My hybrid Maverick is orders of magnitude cleaner in all ways than the 1990 Chevy Silverado it replaced. That truck failed smog and I had to have a repair done to get it to pass.
So I'm not going to feel guilty even though that's what a certain segment of the population...
Why would I delete something I want in order to get a truck I plan on driving for the next decade a few months earlier?
Every single day I drove that truck I'd be annoyed that it didn't have the things I wanted.
All to get it a month or two earlier?
How does that make sense?
This is what I want. And if I can't get that one, I'll order the one from Refined Truck. I think I'll get it in the blue color, which would be a nice contrast to the black of the spray in bed liner and it looks like it matches the velocity blue.
Today, I hit the 1,000 mile mark AND I saw my twin Maverick at the Costco business center. Velocity blue XL. He got the rollup cover but no bed liner and I skipped the cover and went with the bed line. That was the only difference. Kind of like one twin having a mole on their cheek and the other...
I got mine about a week before the estimated delivery date. Remember, it's an estimate. It's not a date certain.
If there was something we could do about it, like pay a premium to get the build or shipment expedited, then I could understand the obsession with tracking things every step of the...
Depends on what kind of plastic it is. If it's the kind they use in F1 race cars or aircraft, I'd be fine with it. Reduced weight with no rust or corrosion issues? Sign me up.
Of course, it's a lot more expensive than aluminum or steel, which would mean that a Maverick would probably cost $50K...
Truth. My hockey sticks used to have aluminum shafts. Now they're composite, or plastic. They last longer, are lighter and provide much better feel.
And even building code is changing so that they can use PVC or ABS pipes instead of cast iron. If you ever see a crew replacing water main piping...
