I have auto brake hold and find it very useful . fx4 here and only makes slight noise when first used when cold . always turn off start/stop . not a fan of start/stop which I feel causes excessive wear/ tear on engine , turbo and battery .
Yes. using auto brake hold is a neat trick to mostly turn off auto stop/start without needing to push a button.
I did buy an adapter to turn stop/start off so I am not using auto hold like that anymore. But it is good to know about and many people find it useful.

Using auto brake hold will automatically turn off auto start/stop, cool didn’t know that, I’ll try it, thanks for the the info.

I'm a little confused.
Is this thread still about the OP wanting to disable the "Hill Start Assist"?

I know the truck has the auto hold controls down by the dial, that's not what I mean. But how the maverick enters auto hold automatically if you're holding the brakes down long enough, particularly on an incline.

I'm just not fond of the sound of makes when you gently tap the gas, and it makes that awkward sound of it releasing. I'm sure it's fine, but everytime it makes that sound, it feels like the truck is breaking.

Is there some option deep in the settings somewhere to select for the truck to never go into auto hold? Probably not, but I'd figure I'd ask.
Mine kicked in on a very steep, winding downhill on a road trip last spring. Actually like that this feature is on my truck. That would've been one heck of riding my brakes.

Then checking my manual now, WTF is ‘Hill Descent Control’? Too much stuff to remember to turn off before you even move! 😝
Hill Descent Control controls low speed descending downhill for offroading.

I don't know what you could be referring to as the hybrid does not have hill decent control and "L" does not engage on it's own.
Edit: "hill hold" will not allow your vehicle to even move.

All I can tell you is what happened. Some sort of braking other than my foot riding the pedal automatically kicked in and I was glad it did

Used the auto hold the other day at a drive through.
I don't see the logic in having that feature.
Just put it in park then drive.
Id rather have another button down there for something else useful.
