I recently have developed a problem where when I lock the truck and walk away the truck will no longer respond to the key fob’s. ( lock, unlock, or remote start) the key will only work when I am next to the truck. any ideas before I call the dealership?

Could be a fob battery, but I don't think it would be old enough to need a battery. So, it
Was probably hacked by a Russian. IDK, post when you figure it out.

X2 on the fob battery. I had the same symptoms after a year. New battery (2032 if I remember) cured the problem.

Both of my XL fobs work great. They will lock/unlock the truck from a block away. Really. I also have Start-X remote start ($100 - Amazon) and it too, works at quite a distance from the truck.

Some people have reported short battery life in the fobs' OEM batteries. It's not likely, but certainly possible both of yours are going bad. It's an easy fix to pop open the fob and change out the button battery. Worth a try.

Update: The cause is something is jamming the signal in my neighborhood. Now have to figure out how to fix that. Totally unexpected

How did you come to the conclusion that something is jamming your signal? Did you try replacing the batteries yet?

No I did not. No matter where I go it works great.until I get home. and instantly can’t even lock the doors.. had my buddy bring his ford over and his key won’t work either. After looking at my spare key it says 902MHz on it. So I plugged it into the scanner and wala. Very strong single coming from either the telephone pole or my neighbors house, can’t determine that one yet. Have to continue to dig at that one. Very very bizarre situation

Some LED light bulbs will jam signal when they are on. Particularly if they are in the opener or within a few feet. Turn off all lights and try fobs. I had to replace my GE bulbs in my opener as well as a different pair.
Quick search =
How do I stop my LED lights from interfering with radio?
Distance: Increase the distance between the LED lights and the radio receiver. Sometimes, simply placing the radio further away can reduce interference. Power Supply Filtering: Use power supplies with built-in EMI filtering. This can help reduce the noise generated by the LED drivers.Dec 15, 2017

Oh this was a whole day project. Ended up flipping my main breaker to the house.. driving around the neighborhood trying to locate the source and then going out on foot. I so wish it was something in my house as simple as a LED light

I had a big clue on mine as I had just installed LED bulbs into my opener. Most of my problem was with my opener remote but sometimes my key fob would not work if I was not close to truck and light was on. I would change fob battery first to ensure it is not weak.

Hmmm, cordless phones used 900mhz.

Here are a few other possibilities:
two-way radios, baby monitors, some wireless security systems, smart meters, RFID readers, industrial sensors, certain wireless intercoms, some point-to-point wireless bridges, and certain types of medical monitoring devices

Hmmm, don't know if I would want to but there is a procedure to change the fobs frequency from North American to european. ( Also you can increase the fobs range 70-120 feet by holding it real close to some water ( next to your head as your brain is floating in a protective pool).🤗 This of course opens the RF damage door discussion!

You can report the jamming to FCC, Potentially the 24/7 hotline.
I was looking into that I might have to do this. I want to talk to my neighbor first and ask them if anything has changed and if they are having problems with their key fobs even though they don’t have fords. And to jb cb900 point I do know that and I’m thinking it may be that just because to me it almost sounds like data vs just static if you know what the difference is. That’s why I want to go knock on their door first
